Would You Stay As A Witness, Even Though You Knew It Wasn't "The Truth"?

when a witness starts thinking, there comes a time when decisions have to be made.

when you know that their bible chronolgy is unsupported or that the revelation climax book is absurd, it begins the process of 'what are you going to do now?

'......what could get you motivated is the realization that "love" is not the hallmark of this organization.

i did stay for a long time even when i started having doubts. then when i started researching i knew
i could never go back again, and i didnt. this was HUGE to me since i knew it would be at the cost
of my sisters, mom & dad. and as much as i miss them dearly, i could not live a lie.

I was discussing this with my husband this morning about my parents. If they ever knew the real
'truth' they would stay just to save face. they are way to proud to admit they could be wrong, it will
be the end of the world for them. sad really!

Another JW divorce!

my wife just got word that another couple in the local congregation will be divorcing.this will be the third one within 2 years,all couples in their 20's-30's,just like us here.. anyways,he committed adultery,got a std and she threw him out;the children are devastated.he was known for flirting with any attractive woman,married or not,christian or not.. what upsets me is that these people all went to the hall acting like righteous christians and pre-meditating their family-breaking adultery.meanwhile,i'm treated like shit because i don't attend all meetings here,they must have a wager on my wife and i.like i told the wife before<i'm not going anywhere and i value my family.

The divorce rates in the Org must be the highest anywhere. Everyone that i grew up with
in the hall is divorced. Every friend i had that is still a witness is divorced, except for one
couple. Its so sad, i attribute that to being forced to marry someone who is a witness
rather than marrying them because you are in love.
Luckily i married a "worldly" man and we are as happy as can be. Now going on 5 years
strong.

this is my first forum post though i've been out here reading yours for a while.

i didn't know how to post my bio.

i became a jdub at the age of 16. i had a child out-of-wedlock who was 1 year old at the time and i was searching for answers - i wanted my son to have a future and the one the witnesses portrayed was better than anything i'd ever heard!

eh peter jennings is doing a show on ufos tonight...i think he is a good news man with a level head, some sass, and a lot of fair minded reporting..i hope this show is good and he sticks to his usual reporting style.

it was fun watching him on daily show on comedy channel..

Has being a JW...

" each time i hear words like these get a strange mental reaction.

Yes, i cant say "Truth" anymore without it bringing up bad feelings, i replaced it with honest.

On the news when i hear something to the effect of "Peace and Security" it makes
my skin crawl and still brings up memories of Armageddon.

I know there are more, but i think those are the top one's for me.

This is so disturbing and the first i have heard about them. I cannot beleive that a
group such as this exist, let alone operates growing in members. This is just
disgusting and i am sickend by this. I told my husband that i am going to start
a crusade to stopping them. I feel that if I didnt even know about them prior to reading
it on this thread, i would have never known.. how many other mothers out there don't
know about them? Everyone should know so we can protect our babies.

A side benefit to exiting the borg

my wife and i made the fade in the past year or so - a side benefit is now beginning to become apparent.

our adult daughter, who was somewhat estranged due to being df'd has come back into our lives.

[we never did completely shun her, as we never agreed fully with that, but it was always strained because we were under the guilt trip].

Avi, you bring up a good point, one that i have not thought of yet. I guess i feel that
its important for my son to have a realtionship with his grandparents, he loves them
dearly and misses them. I mentioned in another thread how they have made no effort
to see my son since they have decided to completly shun me, not until called and
asked my mother to come see her grandson this past saturday. It was a very uncomfortable
setting, one that i do not want to go through again. I guess i am hoping that they will see what
good people we are and come around, eventually.
I guess i have some big decisions to make, of course i would not allow them
to take him overnight anymore.. not since my 3 year old said "papa reads the
bible with me", my jaw about hit the floor.
Anyhow, thank you for posting this, it does give me something to think about, and
you definatly make a valid point.
