Yes, i cant say "Truth" anymore without it bringing up bad feelings, i replaced it with honest.
On the news when i hear something to the effect of "Peace and Security" it makes
my skin crawl and still brings up memories of Armageddon.
I know there are more, but i think those are the top one's for me.

This is so disturbing and the first i have heard about them. I cannot beleive that a
group such as this exist, let alone operates growing in members. This is just
disgusting and i am sickend by this. I told my husband that i am going to start
a crusade to stopping them. I feel that if I didnt even know about them prior to reading
it on this thread, i would have never known.. how many other mothers out there don't
know about them? Everyone should know so we can protect our babies.MP

A side benefit to exiting the borg

our adult daughter, who was somewhat estranged due to being df'd has come back into our lives.
[we never did completely shun her, as we never agreed fully with that, but it was always strained because we were under the guilt trip].

Avi, you bring up a good point, one that i have not thought of yet. I guess i feel that
its important for my son to have a realtionship with his grandparents, he loves them
dearly and misses them. I mentioned in another thread how they have made no effort
to see my son since they have decided to completly shun me, not until called and
asked my mother to come see her grandson this past saturday. It was a very uncomfortable
setting, one that i do not want to go through again. I guess i am hoping that they will see what
good people we are and come around, eventually.
I guess i have some big decisions to make, of course i would not allow them
to take him overnight anymore.. not since my 3 year old said "papa reads the
bible with me", my jaw about hit the floor.
Anyhow, thank you for posting this, it does give me something to think about, and
you definatly make a valid point.

JW'S view of family...
by diamondblue1974 inthis might well be an old topic and covered many times in the archives...but i confess i have not read that far yet.
what has sparked this off is that i have had a conversation with my mother who is still a devout jw...until now i have never tackled her properly on doctrinal issues or on issues which i know would or could alter her belief system...she is one of those who i firmly believe need the witnesses as her crutch and to take it away would leave her life with a void she wouldnt be able to fill.
so i politely keep quiet and refuse to engage her when she quotes scripture and verse usually to point out how worldly i am and that i have changed...(typical guilt trip approach).. tonight was different in that i am getting married to my girlfriend in august and as such there are some friends who are disfellowshipped and disassociated going to be there...they are some of my best friends and companions during my young jw days and are great people and have stood by me through good times and the not so good....(more than the self professed christians did in the wts) .

in the world, at least as far as im concerned.
My parents didnt attend my wedding, simply because it was to a 'worldly' man. I didnt even get married in
a church with hopes they would change their minds and come, but they did not.
All i can say is to make it a point to include her and hope she changes her mind.
I really dont have advice other than that.
My mom and dad are now shunning me completly to the point that they
have not made an effort to see their only grandchild, and my son is only
3 years old, yet he is the one suffering.Good Luck with your wedding, it will still be the happiest day for you!

Dying for whats right???

i have a daughter that needs open heart surgery.
my heart goes out to those parents who may have one time refused a blood fraction or even an organ transplant for their children because they believed at the time that it was scriptural.

Yes, i have heard it happen many times. There was
a sister in our hall who had a daughter with downs
syndrome, she needed a heart transplant, but the
parents didnt allow her to have one. She did on live
longer than most downs syndrome children do though. The
mom left the org not long after the daughter passed away,
im not sure if she ever went back or not.On the other hand my dad is on the list for a
heart transplant. Whether he will get one in time or not is what scares us
more, they have only given him 5 years. He has refused any blood
whatsoever, so doing a transplant will be difficult for the doctors.
Im sorry you are faced with this heart surgery for your daughter. I hope
she gets what she needs to live a long healthy life.monkeyprincess

This is so funny, it happend to my neighbor a couple of weeks ago. Her 6 year old took her car and drove it down the
driveway and hit the house on the other side, causing the car to be lifted up on the gas meters. Both front tires were
suspended over the meters and they couldnt get it down for the longest time, it took hours and lots of men to get it down,
luckily everyone is ok, and there was not as much damage as there could have been.
I could not imagine my 3 year old doing this, i would freak out!MonkeyPrincess
