A Thought struck me.
As young children we were known for often asking the question "but why?" to anything and everything that we were told and presented with in life. (sometimes that would annoy adults, true)
Even the bible tells us to "use our perceptive powers" and to "keep on asking" and to "keep testing the inspired expressions" etc in many places...
But why is it as adults, we get to a point where we think we no longer need to question facts and information presented to us?
Why is it that when presented with hard to believe or hard to accept ideas or teachings, do witnesses just believe it? Where is that child-like quality (that Jesus encouraged) when it comes to things the society presents?
Sure, if it makes sense, accept it, believe it, even promote it...but if it does not make sense, question it.
had a visit from the jws this week.
i've lived in this house since 2012 and this is the first time, they have reached me at home - quite the urgent work.. anyway, i was home on saturday morning and around 10am, there was a knock.
i had a feeling it would be them.
Great account.
The reality is, for most witnesses, finding someone at a house is actually an annoying interruption to their chit-chat time amongst themselves!
How dare those householders get in the way of our gossip time!
i've heard some weird stories coming from jws about the paranormal.
i know about the warnings about items that come from unbelievers -- those don't interest me as much.
what i am interested in are actual experiences in stories of the paranormal you've heard or experienced yourself.
Having said all of that, I was at the assembly where a friend of a friend saw his toy smurf get up off the floor and walk out saying "I'm outta here!" in a low growling demonic voice....
😉😜

Great comments Island Man!
Im glad you mentioned "sleep paralysis". I researched this extensively, and it completely explains those supposed stories people claim about "feeling like a demon was on top of them while in bed"
Also great comments scratchme1010! I also had a problem with the claim that an article or item owned by a "spiritistic" person would have an attached demon! That means that perhaps the money coin or note we get as change from going to the store might once have been in the pocket of a "spiritistic" person!? So should we only ask for money that has never changed hands before...?
When logically analysed, everything has an explanation.
the meeting this week is mind-blowing in the way it fuels the crippling "persecution complex" of witnesses!.
paragraph 1 set the theme with this gem:.
does it shock you that you can expect to face many tribulations before you gain the prize of everlasting life?
Good point "closer to fine"!
This whole teaching that Satan is interested in each individual is so guilt inducing and manipulative! As if he sits there trying to mess with the life of each individual witness!
in another thread there's a discussion about how the show must go on and meetings weren't even slowed down by the deaths or medical emergencies of ones in the audience.
for instance, one young brother's unbelieving father was murdered locally.
not long afterward he's assigned a part on an assembly about the resurrection or something.
Yep, seen that many times.
The lack of fore thought in assigning certain topics to certain ones is outstandingly stupid!
Young teenagers being assigned talks on "marriage" or "raising families" or similar.
Elders giving public talks on "family life" when they are known to be domineering emotionally abusive....
Yep, but no one questions the "direction of Holy Spirit"
does anybody have a digital copy of the revised bethel visitors 'dress code' pamphlet from this year?.
thanks.
.
But of course, "it's NOT a cult!"
this is a true story.
it's about a sister named henriette venema.
she was a very loyal jw.
Wow!
ONLY in the insular, self-righteous world of witnessdom would such stupidity occur where the "show must go on"
Sickening.
I have been at a convention as an attendant where someone died and we had to quietly allow the paramedics in...without letting anyone know so they "would not be distracted and miss out on the program"!
found this article in the about page on jw org.
i was a born in and was always taught charles taze russell was the founder.
guess i was wrong!
Exactly what Flipper said on the first page of comments in this thread!
Well said sir!
