Spot on Nicolaou! Specific doctrine matters very little nowadays to witnesses.....It's more of a community thing....
Ask the average witness to explain 1914/607 etc and they won't be able to!
i copied the following two items from jw dot orgs site entitled “dates of prophetic significance” at site below:.
http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200271564.

an illustration came to mind.
we know that the society often talks about the need to "eat healthy spiritual food".
but imagine that we are speaking of literal food.

But imagine that we are speaking of literal food. We know we need to eat from all food groups, and consume the right items in order to be healthy. We should not limit our intake from just one source or one food group.
So imagine if you were told from an early age that the ONLY source of food was Macdonalds? True, you might eat a variety of items from their whole menu, but it is still all their food.
What if you were told there were no other sources of food? (No grocery stores, no farms, no restaurants, no markets) Worse still, if you learned of other places, you were consistently told that food from those places was "poisonous, bad or unhealthy"?
So too with the society! They tell witnesses that they alone are the source of "true spiritual food". No other sources of knowledge are acceptable or appropriate. In fact all others are BAD, and that even enquiring about them is punishable...
What a sad situation!
in another thread, one of our members made a comment that caught my attention.. i have been trying to put my finger on a practice amongst the org and witnesses in general.... as soon as someone does something well, accomplishes something, or excels at something, the atmosphere effectiveley 'kicks them in the gut' to bring them down.. anything that makes a person grow or develop is blatently discouraged and therefore self esteem is squashed!.
the constant message telling a witness to be 'humble' is designed to suck any sense of growth or 'betterment' out of a person..... therefore this leaves the average witness to be a blubbering mess of insecurity and instability completely dependant on the organization...kind of like a 'battered-wife' scenario.... .
Bumped
i know you know who i am by now...the one that forgets to use paragraphs...anyway, all over all the jw sites (not jw.org).
it's been asked if you knew this or that why did you stay...it's been discussed how no matter what you hit the friends with, failed dated, new lights, pedophiles, etc, yet they stay and you can't reason with them....so what i've come up with is that most stay because they feel it's god's org.
and they were chosen in place of the jews.
Well said punk! Well said indeed!
well, very little, to be honest.
the structure and commitment of the ministry provided discipline necessary to my life.
therefore, i did it, as required, and felt some sense of fulfillment at the bible study stage.. i do like talking to people.
Aww, don't we miss the JOY of smugly telling everyone in the territory that they will DIE unless they take magazines from strangers who come to their doors unannounced ??
and it is ... why do most at the hall prefer to sit at the back and leave front rows empty?.
I agree with others who have said that most don't actually want to be there.
Those that attend also want to be able to see everyone else...
Compare that to attending an event you ACTUALLY look forward to, such as a concert or stage show of some sort. Most people would LOVE front row seats!
someone decided to make their avatar almost identical to my old one so i changed mine to avoid any confusion.. <- so lookout for this anytime you want to read some "amazing words of wisdom" from now on :d.
He's an outlaw....(not to be confused with Outlaw)
i wanted to write my experience on how my husband helped me see the ttatt (the truth about the truth).
first, let me mention that he wrote his own experience a couple months ago under the name sanchy.
for his story please click here….. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5148261828526080/walking-thin-line-resigning-elder
Just bumping this thread for any who missed it.
This account of Corruptgirl and Sanchy is simply outstanding and very heartwarming!
There is hope for our loved ones!! This forum community has seen quite a few wake up along with family members...so never lose hope!

oh wait!.
Good point tepidpoultry! Yes, the Samaritan was actually an APOSTATE , and yet HE helped the Jew..... (not the other way around)

Why would the witnesses even bother helping any "worldly" people in times of such natural disasters? After all, they are all destined to be destroyed at the big A anyway right?
Plus, isn't it better that people die in natural disasters? After all, then they are guaranteed a "resurrection" right?
