Maybe the society can adopt a new calendar that has a tear off section where credit card details can be filled in each month and submitted to the local congregation??
Oops....maybe I have just given the GB a new idea! Tithing witness style!
remember this?
it was one of my first assignments, at bethel:.

i was thinking about the fog model this morning, particularly about the "obligation" part.
my mind went back to the last elders school i went to.
one of the parts in the section on appointments was discussing how we should not place too high a bar (human standards) for brothers to try and jump over when we are considering them for appointment as a ministerial servant.
Great thread!
Yes, I saw the same sort of things during the "secret men's club meetings"
It was never about how much of a "Christian" personality one displayed in helping others or in doing congregational related tasks.
No, it was about the "outward appearances" and actual reportable time one submitted!
i've been out of the jw for some time.
but i was just recalling this guy that had formerly been an elder, but had not agreed with the rest of the elders on some issues and had stepped down.
he continued to go to the meetings, make comments at the hall and be critical of the elders.
Yes!
Me.
my girlfriend and i were walking along a seaside boulevard and lo and behold!
2 jws were standing by the pathway.
they made eye contact and said hello.
that realisation struck me the other day!.
if the society was an individual person, he would be disfellowshipped!
well, he has had a history of telling mistruths, half truths and distortions of facts.
Well said NikL!
oh wow!
if you haven't yet watched the feb2017 broadcast, strap yourself in for a ride!!.
( perhaps watch john cedars review of it on his youtube channel as it is better than watching the official one.
Anyone else had the "privilege" of watching this broadcast as yet?
new letter today (please visit avoidjw.org for a copy of the official letter and yes, i also noticed they got the date wrong!).
february 28, 2017. to all bodies of elders.
re: visiting disfellowshipped or disassociated individuals.
The "Return to Jehovah" brochure has been renamed "Return to Sender".
HAHA! Like "junk mail"?
the wt book "family life" (1978) had something to say on this topic:.
*** fl chap.
10 pp.
I'd like to smack G Jackson!
i grew up a jw kid until the age of twelve.
since then i have lived a worldly life.
i have enjoyed alot of my life experiences, but i now feel like i am lost.
Sorry to hear that you are going through tough times.
Rejoining a cult will NOT help you! It will simply seem to provide a measure of stability and structure for your life, along with a comforting hope. But that is it.
You will become burdened with a new set of issues as you strive to meet up with all the expectations placed on you.
You will become burdened with FOG (Fear Obligation Guilt)
May I suggest that if you feel like your life is lacking guidance or structure, seek professional mental health assistance. Many here have done so, and it will help you to regain control over your life, and answers as to the "lost" feelings you are experiencing.
Love and Best wishes!
how ironic that they have asked jws to not look past - tight pants - so called "affectations" - beards - long hair - short hair - and like 1000 other meaningless and trivial things.. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/watchtower-study-june-2017/can-you-look-beyond-outward-appearances/.
Hypocrisy at its finest!
