Toxic Person?
by stuckinarut2 ini read a fantastic quote that applies to the way the society treats those who choose to leave...:.
"when a toxic person can no longer control you, they will try and control how others see you".

what i find scary is that... it's accurate.

I always replace the expression "critical thinking" with "Analytical Thinking" when speaking with Witnesses.
It removes their defences....

u can speak against Christ but not the GB
by Damascus inso i am in trouble for questioning the whole rats nest of deceit and lies.
in matthew 12 jesus says: whoever speaks a word against the son of man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the holy spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the one to come.
" the gb seems to replace 'holy spirit' with themselves.

Circumcision....Perfect Adam....Uncircumcised....1st century Christians...circumcision ont required
by blondie ini know this has been discussed many times, but i was watching a news story about female genital mutilation (not female circumcision) and segued mentally into why the hassle about male babies having to be circumcised, christians especially.
even the wts flipflops on this...... if adam, the first perfect man, not under the jewish law code, was given a foreskin by god as an aspect of his physical perfection, why then do so many "christian" people have their boy babies circumcised?.
if a health issue....why did god create the perfect man, adam, with a foreskin?.

Blondie: Since culturally, many people keep their penis under wraps, who would see if a man had a foreskin or not, to be stumbled if they didn't?
Best comment!

Circuit Overseer's Idiotic Comment
by FedUpJW inat last night's clam the circuit overseer made this comment, "we elders sometimes have to act as judges in the congregation.
but we (the elders) are imperfect, and so cannot know everything about judicial matters.
that is why we (the elders) have the biblical rule that there must be at least two witnesses to wrongdoing.

Wow! That CO sounds like an absolute idiot!
Didnt Jesus condemn the scribes and pharasees for the way they messed with the law by "straining the gnat and gulping the camel"?
The society's way of dealing with child abuse is just such an example!

Hello! Im weighing in late to this thread, but I appreciate your thoughts!
It is indeed great to be alive and enjoying yet another day!
I read a great quote today that said "there are no 'good' days or 'bad' days. The choice is ours each day to make it what we will"

Oh neverendingjourney! That is so very inappropriate! How did we all not see it sooner...?
Such conduct by elders as they pry into personal details is so very wrong...and yet we all allowed ourselves to be under their control for so long...

Mental Illness
by Tallon inover many years i have been pondering how mental illness has impacted upon jw's due to the effects of indoctrination.
in my case; when i was 21 i had a breakdown and was hospitalised for 6 weeks.
i was diagnosed with anxiety tension state disorder.

Great thread. Thanks for starting it.
I agree that the culture and teachings of the society do contribute to a heightened state of stress and anxiety.
The very idea that "we alone know the future" and how "all will be destroyed except faithful witnesses" must play havoc with a normal mind. The FEAR, OBLIGATION and GUILT is abundant. (we don't see that until we exit the culture)
It is like cornering a puppy and raising a large iron bar above its head and holding it there threatening to strike it! It cowers in fear and anticipation of what seems to be about to happen!
That is how every witness is raised to feel......
