It was amazing to see how much they still highlighted CT Russel, even though the WT has recently tried to minimise his role!
And Yes, as Steve2 said, where were all the controversial disturbing parts of Russel's life?

i have the first volumes of the watchtower from the 1800's to the 1900's.. .
i will highlight vol.
2 january 15, 1892 to help the reader understand the truth regarding russell and his supposed appointment as, what the watchtower this year referred to, "he certainly was that minister" ...making vague reference to his being called "the laodicean minister" (found on his tombstone).
Yes, it is somewhat puzzling to think that Jesus and Jehovah felt that THIS man was the best available in order to convey "The Truth" through.
seen in the 03/2018 watchtower study :.
"during the 2017 service year, more than 284,000 “rightly disposed” individuals symbolized their dedication to jehovah by water baptism.".

These guys were raised as devout Mormons. And wow, let me tell you, it is NOT all that different to us!
They are fun, and very insightful. They cover a wide range of topics, and have some great guests on.
In some ways they remind me of the Witness raised guys: https://www.theprodigalboys.com/
Do yourself a favour and check them out!
my excuse is that i was born in the religion.
but if someone wasn’t, why would they become one?.
Brilliantly written PE!
Spot on!
i recently learned of the term "hanlon's razor".. wikipedia defines it as: .
hanlon's razor is an aphorism expressed in various ways including "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
" it recommends a way of eliminating unlikely explanations for a phenomenon (a philosophical razor).. so could it be said that this applies to the gb / society ?.
Good point cofty!
if there were only one god, why do we encounter the expression, "most high god"?.
is this not indicative of polytheism, and of levels (or degrees) of god-ness?.
doug .
Well, I guess that if he lives on the Pleiades star, he is "most high"
(any new ones here may need to research this old WT teaching)

Generally, people who are social misfits, or craving something in life, are the ones who accept a "utopian" message of hope.
Rarely if ever does a well educated, "normal" person accept "The Truth"!

So could it be said that this applies to the GB / Society ?
Are the GB just simply deluded, and genuinely believe their own teachings and claims? Or could it be said that they don't really think they are God's sole channel on earth, but have inherited a huge religious entity tand body of teachings that they have to take control of and propagate?
Thoughts?
this is my first post on here so i apologize that it is like an essay!.
my husband and i are currently 'fading out' of the truth.
we stopped preaching in may 2016 and limited meeting attendance in january 2017 and stopped completely in june 2017. my main reason for this was my whole life i have been doing things to please others, even getting baptized to please my mum.
WELCOME!
Lovely to have you guys here!
In addition to all of the great advice already offered, may I simply share a couple of things?
Learn to maintain your Dignity, Poise and Grace throughout these "proceedings". Be calm and in control.
If approached or contacted by anyone, especially Elders,be polite, but DO NOT GET DRAWN INTO A CONVERSATION. Simply say "Thanks____, But I trust you will respect appropriate boundaries" and wish them a good day.
The best principle is "LESS IS MORE" (The less said, the more power you hold)
Also, a great thing to keep in mind is: "The ONLY power people have over you is that which you allow"
Much love!
