in the recently leaked bethel training videos, both speakers state that inappropriate flirting really amounts to lying, as if a person is misrepresenting either his interest or availability to another person romantically.. we are reminded that the bible is very plain in its expressions on lying such as proverbs 12:22 which states it is detestable to god.

so with the example given here, we must have a very high standard in separating what is truthful from what is not.. with that being the case, it shocks me that bethel would produce a video presented to all in attendance at the 2017 regional convention regarding the early 1970's, essentially rewriting history as to what actually happened.. is misrepresenting your past and misleading millions of followers not a much more extreme case of lying from those who claim to reject any form of lying no matter how small, such as flirting?

would anyone like to add more examples to this thread?.

Yes, as Vanderhoven said above, the lies said during the Australian Royal Commission were mind-blowing!

I know many of the brothers who were on the stand from Bethel, and their lies really stood out! Especially the lie said by Vincent Toole "I've never heard of the term 'Theocratic Warfare'"! HE gave a freaking talk on that very subject when I was in Bethel at the same time as him!

The irony is that he thinks he was using "theocratic warfare" to deny the existence of 'theocratic warfare"! I bet he and his cohorts laughed their asses off back at Bethel thinking they were so clever!

A pet peeve

a pet peeve of mine is that there are numerous christian denominations (other faiths with their 'holy' books too), all claim that their interpretation of their 'holy' book is the correct interpretation.

my conclusion is that either their god is a very poor communicator or simply doesn't exist.. i used to believe all this stuff when i was a jobo and later a church going christian.

i simply cannot, in all honesty subscribe to it all any more.

Its almost as if the Almighty revels in making it difficult for people to learn the truth about him...and then punishes them with death for failing to know him...

Seems so loving?

Or maybe there is no such thing as a god, but he is the creation of the Bronze Age goat herders and 1st century simpletons who wrote the bible

the other day my wife and i were in sonoma.

we were just walking around enjoying the pleasant afternoon in the quaint, old downtown area when i saw two jw women standing by their “witnessing cart.” .

normally, i just ignore them whenever i see jws standing by a cart, but i gotta admit it: this time it really bugged me because of the title on the cart: find family happiness.

I perfectly understand your reaction to their hypocritical message!

I likewise called out the hypocrisy of the witnesses message once when they highlighted the cartoon drawing clip for youths that spoke out against gossip and slander. ("What makes a true friend " or something like that)

The VERY THING that all our former "friends" did was gossip about us and slander our names!

So such hypocrisy needs to be called out.

To be honest though, I don't think that the GB have thought that far ahead with any grand plan. I think they are just doubling down on "OBEY US" or else stuff. They haven't yet thought of what that actually involves...they are not that bright....
