by Wake Me Up Before You Jo-Ho inso i was watching some of the dramas screened at the be courageous convention, and one caught my eye.. it's the scene where a group of jw teens are watching something deemed as "sinful" at the movie theaters.

he was an elder, and a very emotionally abusive father, well before the point where he ever shunned me.
he died pretty much penniless, and never would buy life insurance or anything.

You know, another of our friends here on the forum also shred that just as he was down to his last few dollars last week, he received a job that covered all his expenses! Not too long back, he would have attributed this to Jehovah's blessing too!

Has the Governing Body ever been right?
by Jules Saturn ini asked this question to a relative after mentioning several situations where teachings were changed or readjusted (new light) and they have two reasons.
yes, they are correct because look at how the preaching work has grown through the decades and the advancements in witnessing and the second reason was the doctrine of the trinity and how the society opposes that.
i didn’t really have a response, especially for the trinity doctrine.. does the governing body have the rejection of the trinity belief correct?.

without giving too much away, there are two scenes in it that we as ex jws will relate to.. the first scene shows the main character being chastised and rejected by his parents for not following their religious and cultural expectations and marrying a muslim girl.
the parents effectively "disfellowship" him from their family!

If anyone has not yet watched the fantastic 2017 movie "The Big Sick", I would highly recommend it!
Without giving too much away, there are two scenes in it that we as ex JWs will relate to.
The first scene shows the main character being chastised and rejected by his parents for not following their religious and cultural expectations and marrying a Muslim girl. The parents effectively "disfellowship" him from their family! He is not welcome to even eat with them as has been the custom all his life.
The next clip shows how he handles that! It is brilliant!

I share your views. It seemed to miss the mark on some aspects. I also do not know why some points were put into the film (cousin sex).
But I suppose, all exposure of the cult to the mainstream population is good in some ways....
