for you who have read my bio you will know i have been working on my wife to wake her up.

now i won’t call her awake yet but through a series of long conversations this week i revealed to her my dissenting toward the jw faith.

she was totally supportive of me assured me she would never think differently of me because of how i feel.

And also encourage her to build up new friends and social activities. (Subtly of course)
Helping a loved one to meet genuine, caring "worldly" people helps to break the stigma.

ask a believer if they agree with the following statements of faith:.

one should strive to act with compassion and empathy towards all creatures in accordance with reason.. the struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.. one’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.. the freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend.

Just a fun idea inspired by Seth Andrews latest podcast (the thinking atheist)
Ask a believer if they agree with the following statements of faith:
- One should strive to act with compassion and empathy towards all creatures in accordance with reason.
- The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
- One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
- The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
- Beliefs should conform to our best scientific understanding of the world. We should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit our beliefs.
- People are fallible. If we make a mistake, we should do our best to rectify it and remediate any harm that may have been caused.
- Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
If they agree, then tell them where these tenets come from! Yes, they are the founding tenets of the Satanic Temple. (A secular, non religious organisation- NOT actually devil worshippers by the way)
Then watch their face when you tell them they have agreed with the Satanic Temple's tenets!😜

Wonderful news and fantastic thread!
Tread carefully and slowly. Just be kind and supportive of her, and introduce fun activities into life to replace the JW routine.
Its a long game that is required. As tempting as it is to flood her with everything we know, small amounts are best!

Thanks Wham and Dubstepped!
Yep... here we are. Wow, what a journey it’s been.
A sincere thanks to all our dear friends and ones here who have supported us through everything.
So there was much more we could have said I guess- but hopefully our waffle may assist at least one person in their situation in life. As the Society always told us “if our message saves one life, it’s worth all the effort”
Hey Dubstepped, maybe Sherrie can share more from her perspective and the things that woke her up (especially the Australian Royal Commission) in a ‘Shunned’ podcast when she meets up with you in November?!😜

WOW!
The manipulative propaganda is appalling in this video!
He uses a strawman argument by assuming that the reason someone may seek higher education is "to build a base" of wealth in life.
That is NOT the reason many seek education! Many seek to grow as a person for a completely selfless reason - to give to the community in some meaningful way - to help others out!
For example, a doctor works long hours to cure and help sick people. Any number of other skills could be cited too.
To make the statement that people only seek higher education for selfish reasons is simply misleading.
