this is one of the saddest places a person can ever be in for sure.
this is were the person is no longer in the organization physically, for whatever reason.
they haven't attended meetings in years.
I know of people who were out for 25plus years and still shuddered every time a thunder storm would roll over "in case it might be Armageddon"!
The KEY to helping a POMI is EDUCATE EDUCATE EDUCATE (see what I did there)
They need to put in the time to learn The Truth about The Truth so that they can let go of the FOG (Fear Obligation Guilt). Then they will no longer be mentally trapped in.
as a person that has recently come to terms with the reality that the truth is not really the truth .
does anyone else remember the feeling when they realized things were just not true.
it’s wierd all the years i spent preaching i never really considered what it must have felt like to have two people at your door trying to convince you that your religion of birth was a lie.
The other expression that helps is:
"The only power they have over us is that which we allow!"
as a person that has recently come to terms with the reality that the truth is not really the truth .
does anyone else remember the feeling when they realized things were just not true.

Thanks again for sharing that great expression of yours DOC!
It has become a mantra to SO many of us:
The greatest revenge is living a happy & successful life!
https://twitter.com/mark_j_odonnell/status/1095514606657851392.
"in the past 12 months, #watchtower has obtained more than 36 unique subpoenas to identify the people who have posted their documents, leaked videos, & images from their publications.
this #watchhunt is a coordinated effort to locate & punish the leak sources.".
If this doesnt prove "CULT" in damage control, then nothing does!
As we have often said, if they are confident they have the truth, then why do they need to try and silence opposers?

Nice thread Leopold!
Yes, it is indeed earth shattering to face the reality that we were wrong . That the belief system we took to be "Truth" was no more real than any other religious group out there.
We now know how odd it is that we ALONE thought we had the Truth, and everyone else was wrong...
Yes, "The Truth about The Truth" is confronting, and also very LIBERATING.
Now we can allow ourselves to let go of the FOG (Fear Obligation Guilt) that held us captives, and we can reclaim our lives.
We are the youngest we will ever be at this moment - so live life, be a good person , and dont let a religious group hold you captive any more.
evening everyone hope we're all oreyt!
first time posting.... bit of my background i grew up in the wts (still keep on almost calling it the "truth!
" lol) and have been pimo for around 2 years now.
Welcome Ollie!
Glad to have you here.
do we all remember that expression when we were jws?.
someone new would "come into the truth", and be so enthusiastic and keen, that we would all joke about "locking them up for the first 6 months because they would preach to everyone".
jws thought that the passion for "learning the truth" was the issue.
Brilliant comments!
thanks to atlantis, this statement is mentioned on chapter 1 paragraph 1 in the middle.
but i like how the statement says members but the sentence right before has the governing body dudes in a collective whole like voltron here is the paragraph in whole.
1. governing body: the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is made up of brothers who are anointed servants of jehovah god.
And yet they have this On section 1:6
"The Governing Body is not bound by recommendations received from other Elders. Such recommendations serve merely as a guide and may even be rejected for reasons known to the Governing Body"
just in case anybody needed this.. 2018 branch organization manual.

atlantis!.
Brilliant!
Did anyone see the point on section 1:6
"The Governing Body is not bound by recommendations received from other Elders. Such recommendations serve merely as a guide and may even be rejected for reasons known to the Governing Body"
Does that sound arrogant to any one else??
