  do you guys remember when the congregation's monthly contribution report was read out loud in the service meeting?

  obviously, they don't do that anymore... does anyone here know why exactly they stopped reading the report publicly?.

  seems fishy to me.

  How many use their tablet and ipads at the mtg ...for internet surfing?

  so if you are still an attender, how many use their tablets or ipads during the mtg for 'non theocratic' purposes?.

  i often log on here, and post during the mtg (if no one is sitting behind me that would notice).

  The rule has swung back and forth like 'the truth' itself!

  Now they are supposed to read it monthly, then post it on the notice board

  Eccentric Jehovah's Witnesses

  so as not to hijack logcon's thread about crazy things jw's have said to householders, i'd like to start one about just plain old odd jw's.. for example, i knew this dear, dear senior brother who would carry a small bag of peanuts in one pocket of his suit coat and a small plastic bag of brown sugar in the other.. during that time, we would stay out all day long because the territory was extensive.. can't you just picture that precious soul alternately tossing a few peanuts/crumbs of sugar into his mouth as he schlepped from house to trailer, from trailer to house?.

  the householders would usually offer us water, lemonade, kool-aid, or soda pops, so no problem with finding something to quench our thirsts.. those were the days!.

  An old brother who came in the 'truth' in his 70's...

  Used to take a salami sausage with him in his bag to throw bits to dogs that might be behind gates...then he could slip in to the door while the dogs were busy eating!

  I kid you not!!

  And he used to take a drumstick with him to the door to knock on it with! yes seriously!

  I love the comments from "honesty" and "punk of nice"

  I would just take it and scrunch it up as i walk past...not even breaking stride....

  Or, say "thanks...it needed something to wrap my discarded chewing gum in...."

  Or ask why 144000 is literal, but most everything else in Revelation is 'symbolic'?????

  Different Vibe in hall since new understanding of Faithful slave

  has any noticed a different vibe in the kingdom hall since the new understand of the faithful and discreet slave .

  when my wife forces me to go once and while and like to say i wonder what the slave will be this week .

  man it pisses her off but she has been hardly actively since the new light.

  Only thing I notice that is different is my 'couldnt give a stuff' attitude toward everything now...I dont feel guilty, I dont feel accountable, or I dont feel like the org has any hold on me anymore...

  BUT, that was probably due to happen now anyway...the F&DS change was just coincidental

  and did you always seem to get caught?.

  my daughter told me that all her teenage friends used to smoke tobacco, pot, do drugs, get drunk and "misbehave" with other kids all the time..

  I would also mess with the songs and turn down the sound on boring or plain stupid people...

  But i would also printout funny cartoons or parody bits from this forum and leave them accidentally around the hall...

  eg, the memorial invites parodies from last year! I printed out heaps of the funny ones (perhaps someone can post the link to that thread here...i dont know how to) Then i would trim them to the same exact size, and slip them in amongst the real invites! so many got distributed in the community!

  A preist , Pastor , or minister of religion that uses the Bible or an i-pad , who in your eyes would command your respect .

  i ask this because of an experience over the weekend when two witnesses came to my door , and he tried to use his i-pad to witness to me, which i wasnt intersted in.. my theory is this is going to backfire on them .

  the majority of people in christendom , whether they practice it or not have a reverence , if not a deep respect for the written word , the bible , as a holy book.

  a sacred book.. i dont beleive a householder who is a christian is going to be impressed by someone who quotes scriptures from an i-pad.. religous books have been considered sacred for centuries , their is an awe about them .

  anyway, the km said that the bible still should be used at the door. The tablet is for extra stufextort the actual bible.

  every once in a while i hear people purposely make fun of jws, calling them hovas, jeehoovers, etc.

  i don't think that's a good way to reach them..

  Doesn't bother me.in fact it helps me to see things from the viewpoint of normal members of the community.

  anyway, witnesses are the experts at mocking other faiths!!!
