One of the congs around here had the following illustration given by the secretary doing the part:
"if you had three kids, and had saved up $10,000 each for them for any emergency health needs, and one kid got sick and needed an operation that totalled more that the $10,000 reserved for him, would you hesitate to use the money saved for the other two kids to help him? Thats what the GB is asking us all to do worldwide...to help others without as much money"

Fake letter from the branch re counting of time
by stuckinarut2 inin another thread, one of our members made up a great satirical letter that sounded like something the society would write about how to count time now.... it included counting all time spent in preparation etc.... (can someone please post the link here??).
i used the letter, edited it a little, and copied it on to official letterhead for a stir..... it is going on the notice board when i can casually slip in the hall one day..... .
ahhh...being a stirrer....such fun.....

"I no longer want to be 'Bloodguilty'"
by stuckinarut2 ini have been thinking of a simple one liner to use when challenged as to why i dont seem to be an "active / good" witness.... "i no longer wish to be considered as 'bloodguilty' thanks" and leave it at that.. if said in a dignified, (not in a smart arse way), then i think this may make people see that my desicion is a sound one based on logic and not emotion..... thoughts?.

But the expression "bloodguilty" is a classic JW expression?!
It conveys the thought that our actions or lack of results in harm to someone's life...therefore, me saying I dont want to be "bloodguilty" means that I am causing harm to peoples lives in the community if I dont make a stand AGAINST the witnesses....

I was counciled for putting in Pioneer hours and not officially "Pioneering"
by RubaDub ini didn't want to hijack the thread about people having to "wait" until the society approves their pioneer status.. i recall once an elder was shocked that i had done the 60 hours a couple of months but not officially on the pioneer list for the months.
i told him that i didn't need the title, that the purpose was to do the work, not get a title.. i then heard a long lecture about how that was not encouraging to others, etc, etc, etc.. he got rather annoyed when i asked him what the purpose of the preaching work is.
of course he said to spread the good news.

So on the flip side, we were told as appointed men (refer to the previous thread about "all appointed men are being told to pioneer") that we should all pioneer.
When some said they could not meet the time requirments, we were told "well, just put in the form, do your best and it will encourage the rest of the congregation"
So, the motive here was just for show, even though many would not actually get in the required time!!!!!

I had a funny feeling he was a Witness... and now I need help.
by noontide inim in a bit of a bind and im not quite sure what (if anything) i can do about it.
i was recently hired as a business consultant for a rather large company.
the company that hired me mentioned that they are concerned about a certain department and the way its being run, as this department affects every other department in the company.

Remind him that his role requires him to step up and take 'leadership' seriously....
Tell him you once read a great quote that said: (he may recognise these words, but dont let on where you read it from)
"If the trumpet sounds an indistinct call, who will get ready for the battle?"
In other words, if you dont lead your team well, then the department will suffer. He has a duty of care to his team to ensure that they work well and effectively...and his example is the key!
