What's The First "Worldly" Thing You Did When You Exited The Cult?
by pale.emperor inwhen you finally and officially exited the cult, whether it be by disfellowshipping, disassociating or fading - what was the first things you did that are considered "worldly"?.
for me, it was like crash landing on another planet that looked like earth but was completely different to the earth i knew.
i wanted to learn everything that i thought i already knew.. first things i did:.

What was the biggest hypocrisy you have seen while a witness?
by HereIgo ini have far too many to name, however, i have noticed obscene music, cussing, lying and secretive gambling to name a few.
thoughts?.

So many things...including ones already mentioned by others.....and many more....
I literally have lost count!
But one classic was seeing an elder in bethel bribe the branch committee with a bottle of expensive scotch to get a sister out of his department because she turned down his offer to "get to know one another"!
Yep, then that elder used to talk openly about not doing anything deceitful !
I can't make that stuff up....

The Vietnam War and “Higher Education”
by My Name is of No Consequence ina few weeks ago, i was chatting with a brother who is well into his 80’s.
he went to college, got his bachelor’s degree and was a school teacher for many years.
during that time, he was an elder in his congregation, had many privileges and cared for his young family.

Higher education teaches people HOW to think, rather than telling them WHAT to think.
Such a skill results in people asking rational questions.....and therefore gullibility to fairy tales is negated...

The J.W fishpond of marriage mates! How many of us married a idiot!! No choice.
by Witness 007 inwhat a horror.
instead of there being "more fish in the sea" our marriage mates came from the small and crapy witness pond.
anyone got burned by going with mr or mrs you will have to do?
-

Most witnesses marry the "ideal" mate...according to their "spiritual standing...
Actual attraction or compatibility has little to do with it sadly.....
Them most just end up, "making it work" rather than really loving each other unconditionally.
Few can ever really be themselves either, as the society's guidelines are involved in every aspect of that marriage.

Counting time
by Emma ini may not have put this in the correct spot, but i do think it's scandalous the way time gets counted now.
i've seen a cart at the edge of our farmer's market, never anyone close enough to talk.
yesterday was a drizzly day and there were two carts set up, covered in plastic, "witnessing" on their own.

So imagine if the same attitude toward "counting time" was applied by an employee at a job?
The rounding up of hours, the lack of productivity etc....
Yes, that person would be fired quick smart!

Campaign to invite people to meetings
by StarTrekAngel injust found out last night that our congo is starting a campaign to invite interested people to meetings.
the instructions for the campaign clear out that "interested" people are not just those whom we visit often or have bible studies with.
it includes and random stranger we may talk to and who may show a hint of interest on the religion.

Did your congregation rehearse service meeting parts?
by compound complex ini was just thinking back to some parts i conducted.
when other publishers were involved in the part, its success often depended on how well rehearsed the participants were.
timing, proper interplay of dialogue, dramatic impact, etc.. as the one giving the part or as one drafted to do a demo, did your elders require rehearsals?.
-
stuckinarut2
Technically, every part is supposed to be rehearsed in front of the PO or COBE before the night of the part.
In reality, it rarely ever happens!
