The same truth book that contained "truths" such as : "this system ending before the generation of 1914 would die out"?
Oh, so when Jehovah gave that "truth", he was actually giving out Lies instead? Or was he just having a bad day perhaps?
this got buried in a thread, so i'll ask in a new thread.. in the 2017 convention program is this photo for sunday.
can someone with better eyes tell me if those are truth books?.

i want to send a disassociation letter to the elders at my old congregation.
how do i address it and what wording do i use?
i know it's not something i have to do, it's symbolic for me.
If you must write something, keep it very brief.
But add a powerful scripture (even if you don't believe in the bible)
Revelation 18:4 "get out from the midst of her, so you do not share in her sins"
"Dear brothers, I take this admonition very seriously....."
so we had this posted in the mega topic thread... wt: warwick world hq tour brochure.
the new world headquarters of jws, located at warwick, new york, will open for tours on monday, april 3, 2017.. in anticipation, a new eight-page glossy brochure about this facility has now been released:.

Haha! I just noticed the address of the new headquarters:
"Kings Drive"!
Wonder if the society named that themselves???? After all, they WILL be "Kings and Priests" in heaven right?
How arrogant!
hey guys.
i was recently talking to a old friend who is a very active elder.
i was talking about ' the truth' and he suggested i sounded like an apostate because i used terms like ' the society' and ' watchtower '.. i am aware that ' dubspeak ' has changed over the years and i am pretty sure that someone posted about it here but i can't find the thread.
I always say "the society"
i was pondering the recent influx of lawsuits against wt, specifically in regards to the child abuse cases (ie.
conti, fessler, lopez, etc).. in each of these, wt has settled for an "undisclosed" amount, assumed to be in the millions of dollars each.
i know there are many many more cases, subject for a different thread i'm sure.. i was reading something completely unrelated a while back that mentioned the dangers of settlement agreements for a large corporation or business (not just wt).
Remember, the society is just trying to buy time until the big day of Armageddon comes and rids the earth of all the pesky legal systems giving them trouble...
So, their mentality is to simply tread water until the day "Jehovah saves them from all of this satanic persecution"
THAT is why they are not thinking long term...
reading another thread made me realise that there are numerous expressions used as everyday witness terminology, that is not in the bible.... such as:.
governing body.
paradise earth.
Bumped
remember this?
it was one of my first assignments, at bethel:.
.
Maybe the society can adopt a new calendar that has a tear off section where credit card details can be filled in each month and submitted to the local congregation??
Oops....maybe I have just given the GB a new idea! Tithing witness style!
i was thinking about the fog model this morning, particularly about the "obligation" part.
my mind went back to the last elders school i went to.
one of the parts in the section on appointments was discussing how we should not place too high a bar (human standards) for brothers to try and jump over when we are considering them for appointment as a ministerial servant.
Great thread!
Yes, I saw the same sort of things during the "secret men's club meetings"
It was never about how much of a "Christian" personality one displayed in helping others or in doing congregational related tasks.
No, it was about the "outward appearances" and actual reportable time one submitted!
i've been out of the jw for some time.
but i was just recalling this guy that had formerly been an elder, but had not agreed with the rest of the elders on some issues and had stepped down.
he continued to go to the meetings, make comments at the hall and be critical of the elders.
Yes!
Me.
my girlfriend and i were walking along a seaside boulevard and lo and behold!
2 jws were standing by the pathway.
they made eye contact and said hello.
