"Jesus Russel Rutherford."
After all, JWs claim him as theirs alone!
jesus in hebrew means "savior' and christ in greek means "messiah".
these are identifiers --not names in jesus case.. where did the name christ come from, his parents???
?i can see the name jesus (first name) but christ.

we were just musing that jws act in a "flirtatious" manner with people in the community.. they show such "sincere" interest in people when they call.
they seem like such kind, caring and thoughtful people - really interested in their lives and welfare.. people are often quite impressed with the jws manner, and their well dressed presentation.
people (especially vulnerable ones who are going through difficult pressures in life), are drawn in and made to feel special by the witnesses as they call back.. return visits take place.

Return visits take place. "Studies" may be started. The Witnesses may invite them to social gatherings with the congregation "friends". It all seems so amazing! ("someone likes me!" they may say.)
BUT, if the person doesn't reciprocate by "progressing" in their studies and becoming a Witness in the "appropriate time", they find themselves being treated differently. The keen interest and "friendship" lessens - the relationship cools....and eventually the Witness stops coming over or contacting them.
It is just like the conduct of a "flirt". When they don't get what they want, they abandon the person and move on.....
They simple become "somebody that I used to know"
it's nearly a job for life if you don't literally fu.. up..
Yup.
He was a lying, dishonest shonky businessman, with a tendency to be a domineering husband....
i wanted to take a moment to give a quick baby update.
my last post mentioned that we lost twin b at 17 weeks but twin a is doing well so far.
we are 25 weeks tomorrow and a week past the point of viability so we are starting to get really exited for this new adventure in our lives.
All the best for you guys !
Really happy for you!❤️
i was wondering if you guys think if the general public cares about our stories or if they even care what the watchtower does to people??
?.
As a born in, I thought everyone in the world knew about JWs, and that we were so important.
As I started my fade with the support of friends in the community, one thing kept being highlighted to me : "no one even thinks about or cares about JWs"
i think the swamp would empty overnight .
Most would at least mentally disconnect and become "less active" if there were no forms of punishment or judgement for doing so.
i won't name the youtube channels yet but i noticed something while listening to them.
both channels were christian in there title both had a married couple that had both woke up and left.
both first started waking by up when the man out in service came a cross a wonderful christian family and they explained their lives followers of christ and doing missionary work etc.. both couples wanted to pray for or with the jws at their door but it didn't happen.
can we have a link?
this 5 minute ted video perfectly explains what a cult it.
it does not mention jws, but perfectly aligns with them.
it is put in a manner that would make some understand why jws are considered a cult.
Very good video indeed!
it is my contention that the wtbts, (as do all high-control, authoritarian cults), deliberately cultivates dysfunctional beliefs among its members.
in particular, the most destructive of these beliefs are those that undermine one's feelings of self-worth.
for a research project i am doing, i am looking for direct quotes from wt publications that seem to be specifically designed to manipulate the readers into feeling: unworthy, unlovable, inadequate and/or helpless.
As has been often said, there is that classic "cake tin" illustration that the society has well used.
We are like cakes that come out of a dented cake tin. With built in "dents" that only God can restore etc...blah blah.
That is bound to produce a feeling of worthlessness.
my daughter and i are ex-jws, and we live halfway between new braunfels and san marcos, which is halfway between austin and san antonio.
