If they are truly proud of their behaviour, teachings and policies, -and have nothing to be ashamed of, then they should welcome EVERY opportunity to make this known!
why do the gb stonewall individuals with legitimate questions.
for example, they refuse to speak to investagative journalists like trey bundy, unless they happen to get caught somewhere walking about in the street by chance.. i remember the panorama documentary 'suffer the little children' where the presenter tried to arrange an interview with one of the gb.
i can't remember if the gb either refused or simply didn't reply.

what a journey!.
it was a year ago today that i was announced from the platform by brother paul "twofaced" castley that i was "no longer one of jehovah's witnesses".
i didn't go to that meeting to hear the announcement because i already didn't believe the watchtower religion.. how was my first year?
Hey PE! Great thread. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, isn't it refreshing to look back at the "old us" and see how much happier life is when we let go of the FOG?
I love this paragraph you wrote: "I look at still-in JW's and see how depressed they are. They're looking forward to the "new system" but they don't know they could have that joy and fellowship with their fellowman now. They just have to do it and work towards it."
How very true!
I find it humorous to read the scripture attributed to Jesus "come to me and you will find refreshment for your souls"
Th REAL refreshment comes from genuinely living a life of interaction with our community...and not thinking we are somehow superior to them all, and that they deserve to be killed in a genocidal Armageddon
i have not been to a meeting for about 2 years now.
i do not intend to go back but one thing has me baffled.
why do ones that have faded and been out for years return?
Great thread! And welcome!
As a side point to this, NEVER assume that an inactive witness might be "awake to TTATT" (the truth about the truth)!
Often, those very inactive ones are still emotionally and mentally trapped...and if they hear someone like us divulge our doubts, they will be the first to call the elders to rat one out!
we all know how the society likes to say that they alone "dispense spiritual food from jehovah" through the f&ds / gb.
the claim was that from russell's day, the society alone is gods channel.... so that got me thinking.... if they dispense spiritual food, yes spiritual nourishment to all witnesses, that clearly implies that all the past wrong teachings, and incorrect doctrines and practices must not have been "nourishing spiritual food" right?.
in effect, they were just like parents that order a fast food drive through "meal" to keep the kids happy and fill the hole in their tummy.. yes, rather than providing a well prepared and healthy nourishing meal, a quick-fix junk food fill was sufficient.
Ah @wake....I love your father, but his response is classic bait and switch reasoning.... Rather than answering the point of "laughing at old teachings in 50 years", he switched the topic to "not being here in 5 years"
Well said Wake! Love it!
june 20, 2017 to all bodies of elders re: supplier arrangements on jw.org.
.
.
So I went to the page for the cars, and it only has a section where someone needs to fill in all their details before any of the cars can be purchased.
What a convoluted way to try and sell cars!
Still, I can see it now, witnesses will scramble to get a "spiritual" car from their favourite personality travelling overseer and then brag about it to everyone!
take a ride with me back to 1987. picture yourself in your town, or city centre.
remember the clothes people wore, the hairstyles etc.... now imagine yourself doing your ministry out on the street, engaging with people, speaking with them, striking up conversations.
now, how would you feel, and what would you say, if you noticed two people appear nearby with a cart.
Yes, good point!
Witnesses would have laughed and derided such people doing that!
if memory serves me, when it was first introduced elders had to fill out a form to grade a jw, and only those who made the grade could do the carts.. i didn’t realize until sir82 said something on another discussion that the process had changed.. what is the process nowadays?
.
According to witnesses, the real problem with cart witnessing, is those damn members of the public that keep interrupting their coffee and gossip session!
Cant they see we are busy?
i don't mean overly obvious, or otherwise meaning to cause harm, but taught to lie for the purpose of avoidance.
this type of lying can be pervasive in areas of life that are not just to avoid discussions with people who have questions about the jw, etc.
my husband will lie/be deceitful about the silliest, simple things.
Just rewatch the whole Australian Royal Commission, and see a masterclass in avoidance, mistruths, lies and distraction....
threads about jw urban legends are nothing new on this forum.
they are loads of fun to read.
how many of you remember the one about the teenager who skipped the meeting and decided to get into a car with his worldly friends and they worldly guys decided to rob a store and the jw didn't know they were going to do so but he was arrested simply for being with them?.
Oh PE! That one is a classic, and has been used by so many culty religions. In fact, it is a favourite amongst the Mormon community too...
