Welcome!
You are truly a humble and genuine person. This is evident because you are allowing yourself to research and question everything. That is healthy!
i've been lurking here for a couple of weeks now.
i'm starting to "awaken" and it is all that has been occupying my mind.
i've always, always had doubts, some of which i expressed to family members who always had the same replies:.
Welcome!

after looking through doug mason's "ransom" thread, i noticed a little discrepancy between dub doctrine and the bible; i.e.
lazarus.. if the wages of sin is death, lazarus paid the wages in full by dying, and when resurrected by jesus, he should then have been a "perfect" man.
after all, he paid his wages for his imperfection -- he died.
Yes, good point!
All who die are supposedly forgiven of their sins.....
as we all sadly know, a common expression used by the society and elders in cases of abuse, or scandals, is "if you talk about this, you will bring reproach on jehovah's name!".
this is uttered in order to deter making something known.. but really, if it is a case of abuse, is not the act itself the thing that brings "reproach on jehovah"?.
making it known is not the problem.. rather hiding it, or not disclosing it to authorities is the thing that brings reproach!.
Beautifully written and expressed Scully! Perfectly summed up!
working late tonight i just thought this up : whenever we used to hear someone say " so and so is not doing well spirituallyâ„¢ " or "not doing well in the truthâ„¢ " what it really means is they aren't doing well climbing the wtbts's corporate ladder or doing their beck and call following the herd cult thingy.
been brought up before but had to share..feel free to add..
Yes, they use the term "spirituality" so loosly.
The measure of a witness's "spiritual" standing is purely based on outward appearances and activity doing JW activities.
It has nothing to do with one's relationship with God (if you still believe in him)

Yes Freddo!
Isnt it funny that "Satan's world" or the "superior authorities" are the ones who are helping "Jehovah's one true organization" to sort out these abuse issue!?
i've now seen a couple of references to this and did a little digging before leaving for work.
i saw someone on reddit in july saying that someone on the inside said a change was coming in 2018 with the jw message, and i've now seen two references to this in the past week.
help a former brother out.
Ah yes...all the hype is enhanced in the Society's mind, by the "apostate driven lies about child abuse" being generated by Satan's media system!
So they desperately WANT 2018 to bring an end to it....

Nice thoughts!
Thanks
Thanks for sharing.
I sent the link to my Elder father.
His reply? "Why are you sending me this?"
My reply: Dad, it is all over the news. It is important information that all Jehovah's Witnesses should be aware of. Literally 10's of millions of dollars are being paid out by the Society, and yet no Witness is told about how the money is being spent"
Surely this is "bringing reproach on Jehovah's name"?

Thoughts?

after the program, i kept my "lapel badge" on.. so while filling up my car with fuel, the attendant asked me about it.
i was able to share some great points about the wonderful program my wife and i had just enjoyed in sydney all weekend!.

Truly, it seems like "God" had blessed our efforts, and provided an opportunity for a fine witness! Oh, and the attendant showed such interest, that him, his family and twelve relatives all accepted literature, and expressed that what we were saying "must be the truth" and are on their way to baptism......
OK, last bit was a force of habit after a lifetime of witness "experiences"
