Thanks for bumping this thread again!
It reminds me of the amazing fake memorial invitations that were created a few years back.
I found some at our hall!
Anyone remember those threads?

when i was a jw i was fascinated with the mormon religion.
i never believed a word of it of course, but i was interested in their religion like most boys were interested in star wars.
i’ve read the book of mormon, doctrine & covenants, pearl of great price, book of abraham, watched their videos, read critical books by ex mormons etc etc… (strange at the time that i never did this with my own religion!

I also spent some time comparing the websites of the Mormons (there are a couple of sites for all ages etc) and the JW site.
The comparisons and similarities are interesting! (I even started a few threads on it here a while back)
Using their own topics from the site is enough to raise awareness of the stupidity of the religion.
Failing that, simply watch the south park episode with them! "Dumb dumb dumb dumb" (those who have watched it will get that reference!)
wednesday, november 22 .
draw close to god, and he will draw close to you.—jas.
by continuing to ponder over spiritual things, we will maintain our enthusiasm for the truth.
Yes!
Simply "meditating" in self-talk is not communication with the "almighty".
And the very notion of COMMUNICATION implys a two-way stream.
If we had a loved one who NEVER responded to us, we would not consider them a friend for very long.
Or, if we had a loved one who only vaguely responded to us via another group of 7 people in a different part of the world, that would be rude!
replace one word in a song title with the word 'elder/s'.. eg.
the elders are back in town' (boys).
smoke on the elder (water).
"Its a long way to the top, if you wanna be an elder"
i've been lurking here for a couple of weeks now.
i'm starting to "awaken" and it is all that has been occupying my mind.
i've always, always had doubts, some of which i expressed to family members who always had the same replies:.
Welcome!
You are truly a humble and genuine person. This is evident because you are allowing yourself to research and question everything. That is healthy!
after looking through doug mason's "ransom" thread, i noticed a little discrepancy between dub doctrine and the bible; i.e.
lazarus.. if the wages of sin is death, lazarus paid the wages in full by dying, and when resurrected by jesus, he should then have been a "perfect" man.
after all, he paid his wages for his imperfection -- he died.
Yes, good point!
All who die are supposedly forgiven of their sins.....
as we all sadly know, a common expression used by the society and elders in cases of abuse, or scandals, is "if you talk about this, you will bring reproach on jehovah's name!".
this is uttered in order to deter making something known.. but really, if it is a case of abuse, is not the act itself the thing that brings "reproach on jehovah"?.
making it known is not the problem.. rather hiding it, or not disclosing it to authorities is the thing that brings reproach!.
Beautifully written and expressed Scully! Perfectly summed up!
working late tonight i just thought this up : whenever we used to hear someone say " so and so is not doing well spiritually™ " or "not doing well in the truth™ " what it really means is they aren't doing well climbing the wtbts's corporate ladder or doing their beck and call following the herd cult thingy.
been brought up before but had to share..feel free to add..
Yes, they use the term "spirituality" so loosly.
The measure of a witness's "spiritual" standing is purely based on outward appearances and activity doing JW activities.
It has nothing to do with one's relationship with God (if you still believe in him)

Yes Freddo!
Isnt it funny that "Satan's world" or the "superior authorities" are the ones who are helping "Jehovah's one true organization" to sort out these abuse issue!?
