i was just thinking about how the gb / society hates it when people like us dare to speak up or mention anything negative about the society.. they try and demean us, or colour witnesses view of anyone who leaves - especially if we speak up!

we know the sort of rhetoric they have been spewing forth over the last few years.. but the gb needs to face the fact that we speak out because we have been trained to do so by them!

they have used scriptural passages to encourage us repeatedly to "preach with boldness"(acts 4:29-31 eph 6:19).

i'm so thankful for sites such as this.

i realise it's our imperfection but god's organization is not always open to 'outside the box' thinkers such as ourselves.

i've been researching dinosaurs and god's reason for not preserving these beasts beyond the flood of noah's day.

Positive Topic - ‘Good Elders’ or Extra Special Kindness shown by elders

after the last topic getting me mad, does anyone have a positive experience of dealing with an elder or a particular favourite elder that was a top bloke?.

Yes. In fact @wakemeupbeforeyoujo-ho 's father was one of the good ones!

As an Elder, he was always mild and calm. A great example even in the face of some really unwarranted and grossly unfair treatment. He displayed such dignity when forced to step down, that I feel he taught a great deal by means of his example.

He also was one of the only elders who really put forth effort in tailoring a shepherding visit to the needs of individuals.

He also took his assignments very seriously, and put tremendous effort into his parts.

Another elder that comes to mind is one that is no longer alive sadly. As I was fading, he took time to catch up for coffee a few times. He heard my concerns about some inappropriate things occurring in the cong by other Elders. He said something along the lines that "I will not rest until these matters are sorted" He also told me something once that still makes me wonder if he was kind of awake? "Never stop researching things"

We attended his khall funeral farce. Ironically, it was given by one of the very elders he assured me he was going to investigate!

yesterday, they showed the story “from enemies to friends” at the kingdom hall.

my mother in law told me about it as she was touched by the story.

so then, later in the evening, i searched for the video and found it in the january 1st 2017 broadcast.

Yup! I know of plenty of embellished "interviews" at assemblies! For an organisation that calls themselves The Truth, these assembly parts are anything but!

How and Why the ARC into Child Sexual Abuse In Institutions Came About.

a program is to be aired on abc tv tonight called : "undeniable :the advocates and agitators who fought for justice" to be shown at 9:30 pm aust.eastern daylight saving time in victoria.. while it doesn`t show anything from what i can gather, about jw`s ,it mainly concentrates on the catholic and anglican churches and if you want to make a comparison the abuse in the jw`s pales by comparison as an institution .. having said that their were some/one champions of jw child sex abused that made sure by their arguments that the jehovah witness religion should not be excluded from this royal commission as they wern`t initially included in this enquiry.. the full/final report of this arc is to be handed down later this week..

Yes, as Incognito said, all other institutions have either said sorry or acknowledged that there has been a problem with their procedures.

The Society on the other hand has arrogantly dismissed any suggestion of a problem, and have been less than transparent or honest with all procedures and enquires!

was anyone told today that there will be a new resolution coming in two weeks about tax receipts and donations?

there will be new changes to how these are handled.

we had a phone call tonight and our friend stated that it wouldn't be mentioned until another two weeks.

With the court cases looming in Canada, the GB will use any means to get their hands on more money! They are going to need it when the penalties are handed down!

Do you or did you experience too much intrusion into your personal life by the elders in your congregation?

i ask this question because i have personally experienced first hand the control and intrusion into my personal life by the elders at our hall; and for virtually trivial things or non issues!

what's more, i regularly hear of individuals moving to other halls because they were stumbled by the thought police....er, i mean these elders.. have you had any such experience?

have your elders been a bit ott over trivialities?.

Yes!

I can remember a firm conversation I had with the elder who looked after our fs group. I was his ms assistant. He would speak in derogatory terms about ones under our care especially if they missed a day of service.

I reminded him that we "do not know their personal circumstances, and that it is not our place to encroach. He snapped back : "yes it is my right to know everyone's business! Nothing should be secret from me"

I calmly stated again "no, we should respect appropriate boundaries!"
