  Cat Dictionary: Contributions Necessary

  cats may well live with us, but they don't live like us.

  i've noticed over the years that how we perceive stuff and how cats process the same info is often so different as to be almost alien.

  here are a few i've been thinking about recently (all contributions of more examples gratefully received!

  Mouse- The Ultimate Gift to be presented to your human caretaker. It is even more of an honor if you can present them with HALF a mouse.
  

  Lizard/Snake- If you want to see your human caretaker do a little dance of joy, and make shrill sounds of appreciation, be sure and opt for the Lizard/Snake instead of the mouse.

  Hairball- Your human caretaker enjoys the honor of seeing what you had for dinner last night. Be sure and present them with the Hairball when you are on their lap, and they are relaxed. They appreciate the invigoration that the sudden appearance of the Hairball gives them.

  Alarm Clock- When you are hungry, be sure to visit your human caretaker when they are sleeping. The human caretaker enjoys it when you sit on thier chest, and wake them up by gently attaching your razor-like claws to their bottom lip. Be sure and do this around 2 am, as that is the optimal feeding time.

  I Thought I Was a Goner (Again)!

  yesterday afternoon i took the boys for a two-mile or so walk along the beach to stay at my mother's house for the night as sort of a last hoorah for the holidays (school starts back wednesday).

  after dinner we went for a further walk of several miles further up the beach and back as a recreational outing in the cool of the evening.

  this morning after breakfast i started developing an asthma attack that wasn't responding at all to ventolin and serevent, the two drugs i had with me.

  I don't know what it is w/ Asthma lately. It seems to be really bad this year.

  I have it really bad, also, and have been having a non-stop attack since before xmas, really. It was so bad my lungs had partially collapsed....which is not a fun feeling.

  The Doc has me on all sorts of crazy meds, and weeks of prednisone, which i hate, but it works.

  Stephanus, I know it's scary as hell when those attacks happen. I doubt that your heart is having any adverse reactions to the medicine tho'. It just feels like it, because all the steriods make your heart rate jump, and then you get all jittery. I have chest pains all the time when i'm on doses and doses of medicine, but I think my heart is actually probably the strongest organ in my body....at least I haven't had any heart issues yet. Just lungs.

  GO TO THE DOC!! I put it off and put it off before xmas, thinking "oh, it's just another attack, it'll get better", but then i started feeling just crap awful, and super tired, tired of not being able to breathe....and the doc ended up finding out that not only were my lungs collapsing, but I also had a bit of pneumonia on top of all the asthma, and that was making everything even worse....so, it pays to go get it all sorted out.

  They'll probably put you on a major prednisone regiment, but it seems to kick the asthma while you're on it.....

  What is the strangest thing said in service?

  during the month of december, the usual offer is the "my book of bible stories.

  well, i was paired up with an elderly sister.

  after presenting the book she concluded by saying: "this would make a nice christmas gift"...i almost fell off the porch.

  Spankings at the hall.

  i knew some parents who really beat the hell out of their kids.

  anyone else remember this?

  seems like when i was a kid, you could'nt go to a meeting without hearing screams of pain from either the b room or the bathrooms.

  The hall I grew up going to was actually a remodled dance hall. Really kind-of a cool place when you were a kid. Had an upstairs that had a few rooms that we used for service meetings, etc, and also had this giant room that used to be a the dance hall....wooden floors, the whole deal. Only it was fire damaged, and never really fixed, so it was nice and spooky when you were a kid. The place also had a REALLY spooky basement w/ a baptism pool that never got used, and lots of burnt out staircases and dark rooms.

  Anyhow, I digress....as far as the spankings go, this hall had a huge room adjacent to the women's restroom. The elder's always called it the "nursing room" (it was full of comfy couches and had a big changing table built into the wall), but, it really was the "beat the hell out of your kids" room. It was far enough away from the auditorium, so you couldn't hear the kids screaming. Plently of women in that hall used that to their advantage. I remember being in the bathroom, and hearing the echos of kids getting the crap beat out of them.

  Luckily, my parents didn't really believe in spanking....one of the few witness parents that didn't, so I never really had the fear of that room that the other kids did. But, I remember seeing kids herded down the ailse back towards the bathrooms, and thinking "ooh, they're going to get it".

  He was probably talking about the US quarters...the ones that are being released w/ the states. (different state, different picture on the back of the quarter).

  I'd have to say books.

  Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere to really put them right now, so they're all packed away in boxes and boxes in the barn.

  Someday, if I ever win the lottery, I'll have a house that has a LIBRARY....that would be ideal. But, until then, I just keep buying books, and packing them away...

  Other than that, not really a collector. I've always thought about finding something to collect, but have never really found anything that's grabbed my attention.

  celtic harumphs.. despite the jw whatdoyoucallit doodahs, how is it possible, and, can you hang onto your childhood dreams, without going bananas in the process.. i know in my business the grass is'nt always greener on the other side, my point is, how do i / can i become an economic migrant or expatriate let loose to explore the world and new horizons.

  is it possible to start out with 500 quid?.

  if i stay in this country much more, i will go stark staring bonkers.

  is it true that one elder is assigned to a disfellowshipped person?

  this is the contact person for the df'd one?

  also, is it true that the elder can only contact the df'd one once a year?.

  I'd never heard this before, but I wouldn't be surprised.

  When I was df'd, I no longer even lived in the same city as the cong. that I went to. I had moved about and hour or so away. The elder's tracked me down, and Df'd me by phone. It was one elder who called me the first time, and the same elder that called me back later in the week to tell me that they'd all had a chat, and decided to DF me.

  At the time, I didn't care. I still don't care that I was DF'd, I thought it was all BS, anyhow, but I've had a few people since then tell me that they really didn't have any right. Seeing as how I was no longer even close to being in the same territory, and since they actually had to hunt me down.

  Does anyone know if they broke any of thier own "Rules" by df'ing me the way they did? I never met anyone in person, it was all done in by telephone line.

  Oh well, no loss.

  this outfit is spending boku $$$ on internet advertising, as i see banner ads & pop-ups advertising their service everywhere i surf.. anybody use it?

  I love netflix!!

  No late fees, 3 movies at a time, and if there is a warehouse near where you live (there is one in Sacramento for me), you get the new movies in warp speed.

  I can mail a movie on monday, and have a new one on wednesday.

  They have I'm pretty sure every movie that has been put on DVD. The selection is great, and you can pre-order movies that haven't been released yet, and once they're released, they'll be in your queue.

  I think it's totally worth 20 a month.

  I'm really impressed by them.
