A JW whose car was spotted parked overnight at the home of another JW of the opposite gender to whom they were not married could be disfellowshipped, as this was considered sufficient proof that fornication had taken place.

When were JW congregations desegregated?
by gaiagirl inhave jw congregations always been integrated?
or was there a time in the past when they were racially segregated similar to other churches, schools, etc?
if there was a change in policy, were jws leaders in the movement to integrate, or were they just following along because circumstances forced them to do so?

I suppose my favorite was "The Lonely" about a man sentenced to life in exile on an asteroid. His only contact with humans is once each year when a rocket brings him food and supplies. After several years, the captain of the rocket feels sorry for him, and brings him a beautiful female robot, to whom the prisoner grows very attached. Eventually, he receives a pardon, but as he prepares to board the rocket the captain tells him he can only bring 15 pounds of gear, and he realizes that his lovely companion weighs a great deal more than 15 pounds.

WILL JW's MURDER as an organization during an "invisible" Armageddon?
by GoddessRachel inthis was my post on another thread but it needed it's own thread so as not to topic/thread steal.
someone (voideater, i think...) made this comment on another thread, facetiously:armageddon has arrived!
but...invisibly.... this was my reaction to it, and i'm curious what people think.

In the past, JW's always seemed to think that the actual killing would be done by the invisible forces under Gods command, and forces of nature. I don't recall ever seeing any hint that any JW would assist in any way. Which is not to say that there could not be a "new light" on the subject.

Anyone ever disfellowshipped for gluttony?
by gaiagirl ini never knew or heard of anyone, and remember many, many members of congregations who clearly ate much more than they needed to for health.
since the bible lumps gluttons with other "sinners" such as fornicatiors, why does wtbts not prosecute gluttons?
perhaps elders meetings aren't as much fun when you only get to ask questions like "what did you eat next?

"perhaps there is some hypocrisy in WT policies" EXACTLY the point I was hoping to make by starting this thread!!! Thank you!

Perhaps elders meetings aren't as much fun when you only get to ask questions like "What did you eat next? Did you use a fork or a spoon? Did you cut it into bite size pieces, or use your teeth to bite chunks off? How did it taste? Did you savor it?"

People who would never have been born...if the WTBTS was right!
by gaiagirl ini watched several movies this week, and afterwards, i was thinking about how many performers in those movies would never have been born if armageddon had come in the fall of 1975 as advertised.
stardust featured clare danes and charlie cox, both born long since 1975. resident evil: extinction featured milla jovovitch, whose birthday is actually in december 1975, but it is likely that her parents would have already been dead by then, as they aren't witnesses.
anyone else have favorite people (actors or not) who would not have been born if 1975 had lived up to the big buildup?

Just saw this last weekend. Anyone else a fan? I found it to be very much like "Princess Bride", but better! I especially enjoyed the performances of Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert DeNiro, and Clare Danes. Simply wonderful film.
