Awake! Watching the World "Studies on Sex Abuse by Priests"
by ezekiel3 infrom awake!
november 22, 2004 "watching the world" pg 29:.
"two long-awaited studies have found that the [u.s.] roman catholic church suffered an epidemic of child sexual abuse that involved at least 4 percent of priests over 52 years and peaked with the ordination class of 1970, in which one of every 10 priests was eventually accused of abuse," reports the new york times.

Talk about the WTBS being in DENIAL about their own pedophile problem.
It is upsetting that they write articles and point the finger at the Catholic Church......very upsetting how pious they are....
I think that Dateline should do another segment about the WTBS again!!!

....a group hug and 'hi' for tim horton?
by reboot in.
..wonder if anyone would like to help me send a hug and a 'hi' to tim; she's lovely and could do with a smile on her face at the moment...jw's can be pretty nasty when they're feeling righteous.....

I have to agree with what Blondie wrote: do what is good for you!
I consider this to be a "support group" for suffering years of "spiritual abuse"...(I was 10 when I went in f. service for the very first time and lived wholeheartedly the JW way for 36 years). Abuse is abuse, this just came in a different form.
If you consider this a place to get some healing from your "spiritual abuse", maybe you need to share that thought with your girlfriend.
Have you read this book, "The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse?"...If not, please do...then share it with your girlfriend. She will then begin to understand why you many not be able to "forget the Watchtower and move on" as quickly as she think you should.
Please take care of yourself!!!
hugs,

Already it starts.
by Fleur inmy grandmother hasn't even been put to rest yet and already, my mother starts with "you know that grandma's greatest wish was for you to get reinstated.".
then, one of my siblings tells me that another of my siblings not only said she wouldn't come to grandma's memorial if i went but also that sibling who called me should not still be talking to me; even though i called her to tell her that grandma died.. i am facing the fact that my family may not even give me details of the memorial directly because they won't want me to go.
i don't know if i want to go to another funeral that is really just a commercial for the wts instead of talking about the person who is gone at all.

When I saw the topic of your new thread, I had a feeling it was about the JW relatives and their lack of love.
I have to agree, the usual JW funeral or memorial service is NOT about honoring the deceased or making the survivor/relative feel encouraged....it is a pr talk about the WTBS and gaining new members.
The worst funeral I went to was when my mil died. My ex husband had several brothers and sisters that weren't JW's (sure most of them studied, but it wasn't for them). The talk was all about how IF those unbaptized members wanted to see their mother in the resurrection, what they had to do to make sure they were there.
I was so upset.........my then husband (now ex) was furious at that brother.
Where is the love?
I am so sorry you are experiencing this...shame on your JW relatives for not noticing it is your loss too and that you need encouragment!!!
Do what your heart motivates you to do during this time....it's about you and your relationship you had with the grandmother you loved so dearly.
Sending you many hugs during this difficult time,
