Were You "Refreshed" After Going To Meetings & Assemblies?

When it was "refreshing" it wasn't a waste of time.
There were plenty of times it wasn't refreshing. Like when they said college was only for pioneers. That pissed me off.
When they came out with the Proclaimers Book and only those who had been baptized for 25 years could get one...I was pissed off again.
Yes, there were many times the same thing was rehashed and sitting there was fruitless. Oh yeah...I can think of more negative things that weren't refreshing... The list can go on.
But in all fairness, there were a few refreshing meetings and assemblies....

Emotional Blackmail and Jehovah's Witneses
by Lady Lee ini posted this way back in 2002. with so m,any new people here it might be time to continue the bring it back up with a few changes.
"any reasonable/god-fearing/humble/etc person....".
but money is used to control people or better stated the lack of money keeps people tied to a promise of future rewards .

Lady Lee...many thanks again for sharing that topic
Drew Sagon: I am experiencing such love from my son who has shunned me for almost a year, just because I don't go to meetings. I am not pr'd or df'd.
Emotional blackmail is huge in this religion.
I believe emotional blackmail is very damaging to our pysche... it is to mine.

My Brother Died in a Car Wreck Last Night
by WLG ini just found out about an hour ago.
he wasn't even old enough to drink yet.. to make it even sh*ttier, he had called me a few weeks ago and asked if he could come out here with me but i couldn't do it at the time.
so of course the first thing that comes to mind is if i had done something different it wouldn't have happened.. he was going through the sh*t as i call it, when witnesses go off the deep end and get into everything in the world to stop hurting and they don't even know what is wrong.

One would never know behind that sweet smile of yours (yes I met you this May as I live close to DFW) that you are covering so much pain. I truly feel for you. Sharing your recent life experience has made a huge impact on many posters and me. Congrats to you for taking care of yourself and seeing a doctor!
I have been battling huge depression triggered last fall by my son shunning me. So I for one, know the crippling affects of depression.
Upon reading some threads, I went out and bought: "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy" by David D. Burns, M.D. I would never suggest you go off your meds, but maybe reading this book can enhance the meds and have a positive affect on how to turn those negative thoughts out of your mind. I haven't read the whole book, but I can say it makes so much sense and a lot of it sounds like me.
Take good care of yourself...I hope you start feeling better!!!

A NEW Flock book has been released, with notes by a Presiding Overseer
by Elsewhere infor several years there has been available a pay attention to yourselves and to the flock book in pdf and html format.
this book has proven to be extremely valuable in exposing the morally questionable activities of the watchtower society.
now we have a new version that is even more valuable because it contains the hand-written notes of a presiding overseer, some notes as recent as late 2005. these notes are frequently dictated to elders by a circuit overseer or district overseer in order to avoid liability (the wts can deny every giving such instructions).

Wow..... I feel for your situation. Being the only one in the family and trying to "leave the Jw's" is tough.
Just remember, it might take your wife her "own terms" to have her rose colored glasses broken. Nobody can break them for her.
I never thought I would have started fading in 2003, as I was a very staunch JW. My husband was heading "out" before me and everytime he spoke against the "org" it put a rift between us.
He finally got smart and said: nothing bad. He didn't go to meetings. He just finally arrived at the point of knowing no one can break the news to you about the JW's.
Please hang in there. I know it is a very tough life right now. Have you considered finding a counselor in your area that deals with exiting a cult? I really think this is what would help you out, besides posting here and reading here. You might consider seeing your family doctor and telling him about your anxiety of leaving this religion.
We at JWD "care about you" and have walked in similiar circumstances.
Take care,
