it was chosen as one of 200 films out of 700 entries from around the world at toronto's gigglefest, the world's largest comedy short festival... i now have a date and time:.

Were you psychologically abused into going to meetings/service ???
by run dont walk inwe have all read and watched so many of the child abuse / sexual abuse scandals, and it makes us all sick to our stomachs, i want to touch on a different kind of abuse, i am not trying to draw a parellel between child abuse and being abused.
the abuse i am talking about is just as bad but so different.
i remember growing up a jw, basically having no choice, whether i wanted to go to the meetings or in service, and i always resented this in my parents.

and then after that i noticed that unless u were related to an elder or a co...you were a pioneer..or did heaps of hours and volunteered for everything, or had tons of bible studies or were a brown tongue..meaning a kiss ass then you were a nobody.

by Elsewhere ini've been on the atkins diet for several weeks now, and to it's credit i have lost about 20 pounds.
but*, the diet requires you to limit your carbohydrate intake to only 20 grams a day... and i love carbohydrates.
i'm off to the boston pizza restaurant to have a woooonder pizza and a tall beer!!!

Frannie...you threads crack me up btw...but in answer to the
Yes....
why? because any luck they might hear bout it and try and change it...whatever the prob maybe..
turn offs are: people who stink (big prob in some halls) people who dont brush their teeth& perverts. (these are just in general ...people i wouldnt date)
but in people i have dated the turn offs have been: perverted behaviour (not just the odd grope), and asking me if id pose for nude pics.
so really in a sense , yer it would be for their own good to learn bout things that are a turnoff.

Just Get Over It?
by sens inin the last couple of days ive been reading info on the un & wts ...so have been pretty absorbed with the amount of info out there on the wts...
anyway...it hasnt been that long since i left the wts...and a close friend of mine (never a witness) said to me ,twice now, and rather strongly again today...
"its over, you have left, get over it...your obsessed with this, who cares, just get over it before it drives you mad...its really pathetic"

Even my wife who was never been a JW, and who has learned (and who has been willing to learn I might add) more about the JW life than most outside the group, still confesses she still doesn’t "get it".
Steve, yer I agree that even people you are close 2 who havent been in the org dont get it...Its hard to explain but it just isnt that simple to 'leave behind' so to speak

Questions from a non JW
by shiloh ini have a couple of questions that have come to mind as a result of converstations with my jw girlfriend.
1. we were talking the other day and got on the subject of disfellowshipping and i asked her if she thought it was right.
i also asked her about people who had been df'd for something that the wt has since received "new light" on and thus, had been df'd for something that the wt is now teaching is okay.

When I quit associating the elders checked with me every week. When I was inactive and in the hospital for two weeks on two different occasions, they visited me every day and the elder's wives looked in on my wife and our four small children to be sure they were okay and brought cooked meals to her and helped her with the children. The Ministerial Servants all pitched in and mowed my lawn and took care of my business while I was sick.
Thats the only positive story ive heard about elders. ever. in and out of the org.

Question: What keeps the Watchtower Society going?
by Vitameatavegamin inhello folks, it's been awhile since i have posted, hope everyone is doing well!
i have a question, though, if the society is not paying the governing body, or other "big wigs" in ny large salaries, what would be the motivating factor for the society to continue to exist?
i am not saying that money is everything, but if none of the money is going into pockets, then the society must really feel that they are god's chosen channel, or something to that effect.

Ever get the feeling your just not "normal"?
by logansrun ineven when i was a dub i felt this way.
i mean, i would just stand there at gatherings and feel that i was in my own world -- that, somehow, everyone else was "in" and i was "out.
" i never felt this way at formal gatherings -- meetings, assemblies, etc -- only in most social settings.
