Well, I guess it is my turn.

i have not been to a meeting in about 6 years, and no one had bothered me.

but that is about to change, my sister called me tonight to tell me the news.

my mom had called her to tell her that the elders wanted to know where i lived because they wanted to encourage me to come back.

I really don't understand the mentality of these people. There you are, out 6 years, getting your life together, and then they have to come along and mess things up. They go out of their way to df people who don't deserve it, then they go out of their way to hound them to make their way back. They want you to go to the meeting when it has started, sit at the back being ignored, leave early before anyone has a chance to see you.......it makes no sense. Why can't they leave people alone?

A New View of the Trinity

for everyone's convenience, i've summarized my synthesis into a short number of postulates.

please tell me which of my propositions are provably false and therefore biblically inadmissible.. the godhead is a heavenly trio of three living persons: the father, the son, and the holy spirit (matthew 28:19, 3:13-17, 2 corinthians 13:14, ephesians 4:4-6, 1 peter 1:2 and revelation 1:4,5).the father is all the fullness of the godhead bodily, and is invisible to mortal sight.the son is all the fullness of the godhead manifested (colossians 2:9 cf.

john 1:1).

Could anyone give me a simple explanation of the Trinity without resorting to using long, impossible-to-under sentences and without me having to run to the dictionary for every other word? Whenever this subject is discussed, I goes right over my head - I am not entirely stupid, but I can never follow the debate because it gets so complicated and words are used that are never used in normal conversation (at least - I don't use them). Maybe my brain is slower than most, and I need things explained in easy terms.

I was once a Catholic and didn't understand the Trinity then. I spoke to a priest about it once, but he completely lost me. I became a JW, went through the Trinity brochure, and was even more puzzled. I have read some articles on the subject but still don't know if it is a belief I can accept or not because I am not sure exactly what it is.

.....the Son and the Father are both "the only true God" (cf. John 1:1). Hence the Father being in the Son as the Son is in the Father. Hence Christians being in the Father if they are in the Son. The Son referring to the Father as "the only true God" does not logically deny his own deity......

Spot on! Going back to the Garden of Eden (for those that believe the Bible), I don't think evil entered the world when Eve chatted to a snake. I think it happened earlier on, as soon as God created Man. If he had just stuck with animals, imagine what a beautiful place the world would be. Terri

Had I gone to the KH today without any knowledge of this board or Blondie's review, I would have felt irritated and depressed. Before I became a JW, I was all for equality of the sexes, but the WTS knocked it all out of me. I used to think I had a serious problem for feeling resentful towards the spotty MS who was just out of short pants, telling me what to do. Now I realise I was right all along.

Thanks for the review - it has really helped me today.

Infidelity amongst JWs

does there seem to be a higher incidence of infidelity amongst the jws?.

my brother, who is an active jw and ministerial servant, has an elder friend who was recently disfellowshipped for having an affair with another sister in the hall.

it turns out this sister was divorced a few years earlier from a "worldly" man who had an affair on her.

I agree the stats aren't much different to any other organisation. My congregation has many 2nd and 3rd marriages and many cases of infidelity. But that just highlights what nonsense most JWs spout. They are always harping on about how different they are to 'the world' and how wonderfully happy JW marriages are - this isn't true. They are just as prone to failure as marriages in any other religion. And I have been hit on by a married elder also, just like Stacy - but I am a married lady with lots of kids and so was this elder - many years ago - what a creep!

but even many "worldy" spirtualist and ufo types say ouija boards are dangerous.. so, have any of you ever messed around with one?.

i did with my wife and sister in law and all it spewed out was meaningless garbage.

Is this true? The WTS were pro-ouija before 1953? Do you have any more info on that?

Sheep and Goats

a few days ago i came across a brief reference to changes that the wt made to the separation of the sheep and goat doctrine.

As far as I know, the WTS were previously saying that the separation work is going on now, with people being separated on the ministry according to how they respond and also the brothers and sisters, eg.whether they stay loyal to the WTS ets. Now, I THINK they say that the separation work is yet to come, at the end, when Jesus will finally separate the sheep from the goats.

I could be slightly wrong here - can someone else give a more accurate interpretation of the current belief regarding this? I have been a bit out of things lately.

That's a really nice story.

I was reading yesterday of a young student who won £16,000 on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' and she gave the whole lot to an orphanage (in Thailand I think) where she worked during her gap year. She really needed a computer for her studies but decided the kids in the orphanage needed the money more. I hope some rich person reads about her and gives her a computer.

I am really going to enjoy doing lots for charity now that I am moving away from the WTS. I used to belong to lots many years ago and took part in fundraising and everything. But since becoming a JW, it was frowned upon as a waste of time and money so I had to stop. Now I am (almost) free to do it again!

I took a print-out of your review with me this morning. I didn't want to go to the KH, but sometimes the emotional blackmail can tug at my heartstrings so much, plus I have the elders on my back threatening to call to see how I am as I am missing so many meetings, so I thought I would put in an apprearance to keep them at bay.

All I can say is I am now totally convinced this is NOT the truth. I felt horrible. Some people in my congregation give me the creeps. I totally agree with the previous comments that say there is more unloving behaviour in the organisation that outside it. What gets me is nobody else seems to see this - they keep on harping on about how wonderful the truth is and how great it is to be in a spiritual paradise. This makes me sick. I just can't see it Some of the things I have seen and heard over the years have been very cruel and downright evil, and I have been to 7 different congregations in my time - all pretty much the same.

Thank you Blondie for keeping me sane on a particularly cold, wet and depressing day.

Since I started reading this board, I always look out for your WT comments. It has got to be one of the best things here and it really helps me.

I am slowly drawing away from the organisation (but slowly due to family still in) and your comments really help me to look at things 'outside' the brainwashed way I used to.
