How do JW's know if their ministry is successful?

I don't think success really matters to most JWs. Paradise and resurrection is what they think about Now. 200 years from now the JWs of that time will still think they are the truth while holding on to whatever version they have at the time. Sure JWs will say they do it for Jehovah but they all fall back to the same reason in the end. My mother in law knows it's all wrong but can't get past not seeing her dad again and missing paradise. That holds a lot I powet over JWs.

A topic you could use is Romans 6:1-7. It is very important to have your parents read each verse one at a time and after explain what is being said. It forces them to acknowledge that this is a spiritual death related to being saved through Jesus ransom sacrifice. JWs take Romans 6:7 out of context and say that someone's physical death acquits them of their sins and allows them to be resurrected. This scripture does not say that at all. This will eventually lead to the scriptures that say there is a resurrection of life and judgement which JWs virtually ignore. This then also will bring up the scroll of life in revelation which JWs say are new scrolls which are really just names of those who are saved.

Any stock market investors here?
by EndofMysteries inif so, i was just wondering if there are any books or steps (classes, etc) you took or recommend to really learn it.
and for what you recommend, what exactly do you do?

I am curious from a comment made, were there any protests and any conventions this year?
by nonjwspouse ini don't recall reaading on here about any.. i just wondered if any actually happened?.
.
oops i misspelled "at" in the title.

I haven't seen a protest at a convention since the mid 90s. Frankly I think it was pointless. The last time I saw one I was still a believer and it only reinforced in my head that apostates were crazy and even possessed. They had their signs yelling and what not. Just wasn't effective. Some may say that it works but who knows, it didn't work on anyone I talked to. It wasn't until the generations teaching changed in 95 that I started questioning things.

Was I the FDS ?
by Simon injust a thought.... at my recent meeting with the elders they accused me of being of the 'evil slave class'.
i responded that there were not two classes as the scripture said "but if that slave..." ie.
it was still talking about the same person or class.. now, if they claim that i have become the evil slave then i must, at some point, have been the faithful and discreet slave.. but, i have never claimed to by such and i'm sure that if it was somehow bestowed upon me that i would realise it (although apparently, the governing body didn't realise it for many years, but that's a separate topic).. are they twisting scriptures to suit themselves?

Perhaps you should go back and tell your elders they were wrong?
Was Jesus foretelling that there would be an evil slave class in the last days? No. Granted, some individuals have manifested a spirit similar to that of the evil slave described by Jesus. We would call them apostates, whether they were of the anointed or of the “great crowd.” (Rev. 7:9) But such ones do not make up an evil slave class. Jesus did not say that he would appoint an evil slave . His words here are actually a warning directed to the faithful and discreet slave .

Speculation Fall AGM
by Poztate ina lot of comments have been made about possible big changes at the agm in the fall.. comments range from changes to the blood doctrine or who compose the one hundred and forty four thousand.. my speculation is.... (and if someone else had this kind of thread i am not stealing from you..just never read it).
the door to door as we know it will cease to exist.
the publishing of a monthly public wt and awake will end.. instead each month a tract with different subjects and a redirect to jw.org will come out.

Not to downplay what may be done at the annual meeting but in America they are hyping a zone visit in the fall not the annual meeting. Congregations are making plans to stream the zone visit this year and as of yet no plans to stream the annual meeting like last year.

Is their any evidence/proof that the G.B.enjoy first class flights accomodation in their travels ?
by smiddy ini`m just curious about the travel arrangements of the g.b.members when they travel overseas to conventions in europe , africa , australia , etc.. is their any verifiable documents /receipts etc.
that prove they stay in the most up market hotels , or fly first class in planes ?, being treated like v.i.p.`s ?.
no human being is exempt from the temptations of abusing his power or position of authourity , especially when big money is involved , and the g.b.

I can tell you at the international convention in indianapolis that mark Sanderson stayed at the hotel directly across the street from the venue. What type of room it was I couldn't tell you. This particular hotel gave watchtower rates but was not included on the list as the rooms they had were reserved for important individuals such as GB member, bethel speakers, and senior administration personnel overseeing the convention.
