Only a slap in the face to apostates who believe the organization is dying. It's thriving and will keep going long past any of us are alive. Realizing that it really means nothing except keeping JWs excited.

How to tell how effective JW.TV will be
by bohm inhere is a simple and obvious way to tell how effective jw.tv is going to be:.
in the past, how effective has religious tv been for you?
has watching religious tv made by moonies, evangelists, mormons or scientologists made you seriously reflect on spirituality?

I think the tv is already effective. It's not about conversions, it's not about donations. It's about the organization advancing due to jehovahs blessing and convincing the current jws of that. Someone already posted his but the great trib being right around the corner has lost its appeal for now. They have realized that changing things and introducing new things creates the same buzz and excitement as predicting a year for the end. the tv has already worked. They will just keep introducing new things and changes as long as it creates excitement. Right now they have JWs in the Palms of their hands.

Just a follow up at the meeting tonight for the local needs the elder mentioned everyone needing an up to date dpa and to see him about getting one and filling it out. the blood doctrine is alive and kicking.

Implications of Dropping "Types/Anti-Types"
by Antioch ini've seen this part of the agm folded in with other topics and poked around, but no really critical discussion of the implications.. .
the hermenuetics of the type/anti-type practice was a big deal to me in realizing the tatt.
i searched high and low for a rational basis for concluding that god was communicating in a type/anti-type format that wasn't special pleading and circular.

Yeah in their new bible. They have covered their bases I think pertaining to that. As far as the generations teaching, ray franz wrote crisis of conscience in 1983 and predicted they would have to change it. I can't imagine he was the only one to realize that On the GB.

@greatteacher I believe they anticipated that already by changing Matthew 24:46 from "arriving" to "coming". In doing so it automatically creates an appointment and a future second coming from the appointment.

Has anyone else heard this about the GB??
by FeelingFree inok so me and my husband were talking to his mum again about why we are no longer going to meetings and got into another pointless discussion where she feels he needs to talk to an elder about his issue's blah, blah, blah... round and round it went...... the thing i wanted to ask was if anybody had heard that there wont be any gb after these one's die??
this is something she mentioned today and we have never heard of this ever.
so it means no more will be appointed and they will just die off!

JWs will come up with anything to try and reason why they are so close to an end. This probably comes from people thinking there will be no more anointed to take over or the overlapping generation teaching means it must come before this GB dies. There will ALWAYS be people who claim to be anointed and there will ALWAYS be a governing body.

@label licker,
That's exactly what I am saying, the elders of the HLC for the area have taken over. The blood stance is still there. The reason they "allow" it with children is because federal law does not allow a parent to make a medical decision that in the view of a medical professional could hurt the child. The courts will step in and take custody and order the treatment. Hence no underage child can refuse a blood transfusion legally nor can a parent keep that from happening legally.
I notice you said the elder said to take blood and not tell anyone. That's the important part, not tell anyone. The official stance is blood is still not allowed. That is not a watchtower direction, that was that particular elder who may very well himself disagree with the blood issue. The one issue you said that a child was involved who was going to get blood anyway against everyone's wishes. One other aspect to know, an adult also cannot refuse medical treatment that may harm a viable fetus in certain states. I don't know if that was the case or not but it's just another law. The watchtower has found out over the years with children that they cannot enforce their blood policy. That is why every so often there is a news report of JWs taking their kids out of hospitals and running from the police.
