Who is your favorite "Apostate"? Who helped you see the truth about "The Truth"?
by minimus ini would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .
and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..

Ultimately it was Ray Franz's book that helped me make my mind up that there indeed were problems all the way to the top.
I Read COC but can't seem to get through ISOCF with all the changes and fires I am now managing in my still-awakening and mid-fade plans. Initially though, I stumbled on e-watchman and his original Paradise Cafe where I learned about UN. It made a huge dent and impression but spouse and elder friends tried to reason me back in and I decided to stick it out and try harder while family was dealing with health crisis. I needed faith and friends and with all the crises, I put my trust in J and head down to submit to my spiritual headship as a dutiful wife, sister, etc....it lasted many years...
When lack of love and hypocrisy became truly attacking and damaging to my family, despite doing all I could with balancing service, work, family, I turned to Internet again and found an abundance of shocking info that I previously would not dare to read. JWSurvey, JWfacts and this site also helped....Barbara Anderson, Silent Lambs. It all helps/ed but, at times, it can be overwhelming when compounded with confusion, anger, regret, shame, friends, family, kids, spouse. Breathing and working my way through what seems like a grieving cycle but not exactly.
I am Implementing positive healing, seeking contentment in my authenticity, and restructuring my self-esteem. I find theses topics vital and lacking on all these sites. It is a bit too much negative and depressing sometimes, thus I am working on a better plan to incorporate healthy, upbuilding habits and treatments.

Why are JW talks & publications never uplifting?
by thedepressedsoul ini was sitting at the meeting the other night and for the first time it hit, jw talks or magazines are never uplifting!
i rarely, if ever hear a talk or read a magazines and have it give nothing but praise to jehovahs servants or just praise jehovah and jesus throughout it.
they never just a read through the bible or just a bible story explained or told.

I am totally with you on this. I am trying to stabilize myself with positive messages and upbeat motivational reading. Truly, even this site, at times, and ones like it sometimes cause me upset though no comparison to JWs.
I am raw from all the jw negative and find that i am so sensitive to it that the reaction I feel is tremendous agitation and or borderline anger. I am literally getting "sick" of the boasters, guilt-tripping, shallowness, doom, judging ........I am starting to hate it and yet, i lack healthy replacement of structure at home and kids still miss it - aspects....like friends, singing, feeling like they are pleasing God by being there.

Hi John,
Thank you for sharing your interesting story.
i'm having to start over too in many ways, including a big financial hit. I find I'm scrambling to get back to work and rebuild after our savings ran out due to business downturn, irresponsible spouse and my not taking better protective measures (it was myinheritance and savings). It's the protective measures I fault myself for and perhaps to seeing an attorney earlier to stop him enough to realize I mean no.
It is hard to go down like that but try to focus on what you still have -. some $ cushion, knowledge to rebuild, release from shallow connections, and sounds like a budding new social network. You know who you are. Money is a tool, security, fun. Enjoy the process of rebuilding your life and your bank balance.
Peace,

i don't wish to debate about their beliefs when together.

I am so sorry about all you are going through. It sounds like you are making chinks i their defense. Do what you can to avoid regrets later on or they may haunt you the rest of your life. If you do what you can, you can always comfort yourself with the fact that you did your best.
from their perspective, i can see where they may feel justified more in shunning you if you committed adultery and did not repent. You are clear of that now, but you are still dealing with fall out of being DF for it and not some lesser issue. The CO and assembly parts make it clear how deranged all who leave and never come back must be in their hearts....diseased of sort that is like a virus. No doubt the atheist stand has put them on alert.
Perhaps softening your stance to at least agnostic.....unsure could help. If your stand is your are repentant for adultery and are really studying to be sure but feel uncomfortable with doctrinal changes and unbiblical policies, then you bring their initial line of defense down somewhat. They may be more open to contemplate how to help you and consider those issues more closely as well in effort to help you.
just a thought. It sounds like they love you very much and are trying to be good JWs and follow "Jah's" direction so all will be "blessed and not blood guilty. There is so much pressure these days....it is the statements from platform that really disturbed me enough to go looking on internet more.
Peace to you

NEW LIGHT FROM SLO CIRCUIT OVERSEER "Warning, Blood on Doorposts", "The Couple who Missed One Meeting Died With Their Kids, Don't Miss Any!
by Trailer Park Pioneer insorry, i messed up before i could put the right title on this new light from our circuit overseer, his visit show's a great desperation in the organization's mindset, adding more anxiety and guilt to jws who already feel they don't measure up!.
hi, i attended the circuit overseers visit and got really angry because our c.o.
gave information coming from the governing body's chief apologists regarding "meeting attendance" and "the couple who missed one meeting and lost their entire family because they did not get the "411" when armageddon was coming!

Consequences of staying on the recommended Hotel list
by Samaritan At the Well ini wanted to share an experience i had and see if anyone else had encountered this same matter.
we always tried to make an extra effort to ensure we stood on the approved hotel lists when going to our special day conventions or district conventions or what they now call regional.
we use to stay many nights a year and i would save up my hotel points to use at a later time.. i remember checking in at popular chain hotel and asked the hotel clerk how many points would i earn for the 3 night stay?

I am so sorry to hear of the pain you are going through.
i read you have been to counselors. Have you tried group therapy for abuse victims? Not sure where you live. I had experience with abuse and found support and help via Haven House. It was free and very helpful for my mental and emotional state at time. There is likely also online help forums for victim support.
Once you get a bit stronger, I urge you to get more strategic: record conversations, video if possible or have witnesses. Keep email file. Document. If this person is abusing you, Jehovah will understand. A liar is being aggressively strategic and you must be fully prepared to defend and protect yourself. If you are not strong enough to do this on your own, get good help.
You must guard your wellness on all levels. Work on rebuilding your healthy life. You already stated that you cannot live in same situation again.....so decision made. Now you must adapt best you can to new circumstances. Be prepared for more changes to come as the situation unfolds.
You are valuable and worthy of being treated with dignity and repect. Love is just the other side of respect in my book. Synonymous to different degrees.
It's okay to visit other halls during those or any talks....less eyes on you. Jehovah knows your heart and the situation even if elders (only humans). This is a shocking reality for you and you need to process.
Build support system of ones who believe in you, value you, cherish you, will be there for you. Learn to tolerate the rest and not be too concerned.
Take care. Don't be afraid to read by the way. Truth can withstand any challenge.

I faced same wall end of May and chose not to turn in time and started visiting other halls (visiting actually came first and the reactions hastened my awakening). When SO asked for time finally, I simply stated, "I have nothing I want to report at this time." I was not lying that I had no time but stating I had nothing I WANTED to say. He focused on "no time," acted very shocked but only stated he understood how prepping for move was likely taxing my time. I rarely visit that hall now and he and other elders keep it light and shallow so far.....and for me that is a good thing.
All the vest to you and your family. You have way more pressure with family all around so you may need to find justifiable reason to visit other halls- e.g. Learn a new language, talk with a friend other side of town and go to meeting that side of town that week. It helped me mentally/emotionally to have a legitimate, real reason to not be at MY hall so I could begin separation and it really helped me.
Also, I have not officially moved my cards. My cards are still at old hall and I think I will let them stay there. i can visit around in new town without being targeted by elders for being on official list, and I am going less often now. I guess I needed to do this slow versus
