since leaving the jws for some reason i have done a lot of research on the mormon faith as well.
i guess it's probably because i can see so many parallels between the 2 religions.
i just thought it was uncanny how the 2 religions both had significant events in their history happen in locations that are with in 1.5 hour drive from each other.
debating this was going to be the last day in field service was not hard after dealing with a nasty mess because i was grouped with the misfits of the kingdom hall!
i was reading this website on my phone while something started to stink in my car and one of the weird kids nobody wanted to work with yelled "hey, you leaking all over my seat, he was freaked out too!
" the older, retired elder, his pioneer daughter had forgotten to put his depends on and that became my problem.
I feel your pain PokerPlayerPhil. You have to remember that a good chunk of JWs are not used to nice things...remember their mindset is, the end is going to happen any day now; so what's the point of nice things or even new/newer things?
Again, remember some of them drive around in beaters that could break down any day now because they were swayed from getting an education or taking that job promotion. Plus with the latest b0rg money begging scheme, these people are broke. So many JWs see nice cars and like them, but not nice enough to respect.
i believe that the best way to inoculate any friend or relative of yours from becoming more deeply involved in the watchtower is exposure to recordings of the judicial process.. that goes for those already in the watchtower---if you can get them to listen.. what in your opinion are the best available online?.
i recommend several.

Just wanted to add my recording. It's not a JC but it's a recording of when I was pulled into the backroom and questioned when I decided to no longer turn in field service time.
Things the elders said in my video:
- We shouldn't think.
- Turning in time is not in the bible, but the GB turns in their time; so should we.
- It all boils down to loyalty to the organization.
- Not turning in time is worse than Porn

my elder brother made the mistake of telling me about the wts policy of theocratic warfare.
he first called it 'lying for the truth' then he tried to tone it down to theocratic warfare.

It's interesting to see watchtower ignor its own holy book. They fail to follow what Paul said in Romans 3:5-8, especially versus 7 and 8:
"5However, if our unrighteousness highlights God’s righteousness, what are we to say? God is not unjust when he expresses his wrath, is he? (I am speaking in human terms.) 6By no means! How, otherwise, will God judge the world?
Its obvious watchtower is no different than ever other Christian religion....they pick and choose what scriptures they want to follow.

Thanks for watching my video. I did post this awhile back but it's a good refresher for the new ones here. If you get a chance, listen to the last 5mins or so of the video. One of the elders told me not turning in field service time is worse than porn because sexual urges are natural, disobeying the b0rg is not.
Anyways, I have successfully faded out, enrolled into a community college, and never looking back!

I wanted to expand on point #2 about eye witnesses. As Matt Dillahunty says,

This whole watchtower study was a coo call to the choir. Anybody with an once of thought could pick through these logical fallacies.

By this statement, watchtower is obviously getting sick of all the lawsuits coming their way, especially with the child abuse cases.

Counter argument:
"So imagine your son/daughter is a teenager at driving age. Your son/daughter is a good person and helps others. Your teenager listens to you as a parent; your child tries their best to please you. When you ask your child to do something, they listen and obey....all around great kid.
One day, your teenager is going on a long road trip to help a relative. The car your teen is taking has MAJOR brake issues; the car is unsafe to drive. You know this, your child does not. You would normally put the money in to fix the brake issue but it does not benefit you to fix this because it will cost YOU money out of YOUR own pocket and you have been saving up for that new (fill in the blank item).
So, your teen gets in the car, drives off, and on their way to the relatives house, the brakes go out and your teen dies in a crash. You feel sad, you know you could of prevented this, yet, you did nothing. The authorities along with the automobile maker of your teens car launch an investigation. They find out that 2 weeks prior to your teens road trip, you took the car in for an oil change and the mechanic vehemently warned you about the brakes. Actual the mechanic made you sign the shop receipt saying you know of the issue but have declined service. The authorities decide to press charges against you, after all, you had the money or the "power" to fix the brakes. You later go to jail for manslaughter."
The correlation between this and god is, god has the power to help people. He has the power to help good people who have obeyed him and put him first. Look at the brothers and sisters who died in the Honduras bus crash:
You can rightly say they were putting god first. Yet he did not spare them. Why?
Because of what god himself says at 1John 5:14 -
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."
God is a HORRIBLE example of a parent. And he is the supposed heavenly father of all of us. God will only help us or individuals, if it benefits him. How disgusting! For all dead beat dads in the universe, surely jehober takes the cake.
does a female kingdom publisher need to wear a head covering if she conducts a bible study in the presence of a male publisher?.
in a questions from readers item published in the watchtower of july 15, 2002, it was stated that a sister should cover her head if she conducts a bible study in the presence of a male publisher, whether he is baptized or not.
further consideration of the matter suggests that a modification to this direction is appropriate.. if the male publisher who accompanies the sister while she conducts an established bible study is baptized, the sister would certainly want to wear a head covering.
The bible can be so silly at times. It can seem to contradict itself (b/c it does). Didnt Jesus warn against 'traditions of men'?
Mark 7:8 - " You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions."
Yet, look at what 1Cor 11:2 says: " I commend you because in all things you remember me and you are holding fast the traditions just as I handed them on to you."
The next 14 verses talk about the head covering for women. Though notice what 1Cor. 11:16 says to sum up the head covering, " However, if anyone wants to argue in favor of some other custom, we have no other, nor do the congregations of God."
So this idiotic idea of a head covering is a TRADITION and a CUSTOM! Are we supposed to follow customs from thousands of years ago at a time when women were considered a little better than a mule? Also, when Paul said 'we have no other' customs in verse 16 he is lying. What about the tradition/custom of eating bread and wine?? What about getting baptized to show everyone your devotion???

So ponder this for a second, if the GB has announced virtually publicly that Gog is no longer Satan, why don't they send a letter to all congregations tonight to be read at all tomorrow's Sunday's meetings of this change?
What I'm trying to say is, with 8million JWs, im sure some JW around the world has told someone or a study today the Old Light that Satan is Gog. So this would mean that currently, most JWs believe and are ACTIVELY teaching a false doctrine. If truth was SOOO important to these yahoos (the GB) wouldn't they send a letter out tonight and update the R&F ASAP??? Why would they wait to print it in a magazin? Or why would they wait almost a year like last time to let the R&F know about the Nu Lite concerning the 1919 change doctrine???
So currently 7million plus JWs are teaching false doctrine....just like Christendom who they rail against.
