1914 did not bring the end they were hoping for so new light shone down from above and corrected their understanding.. 1925 also led to unfulfilled expectations and so new light was bestowed.. .
(i could go through all the dates and expectations... but i won't.).
what if the new light about 1914 being the year that christ returned was provided before 1914?
Good points.

she said, "so, what made you decide to study this book?
at this point, she opened with a prayer.
"...and some decide that such questions are best left to religious leaders and teachers.
FW,
Been following your posts on this with interest.
Gotta say that I feel for the genuine attempts and sincerity JWs have in trying to help people... they are under compulsion to volunteer their time for a cause they believe in. Both my parents could be your brother and sister K...
She thinks she might have a chance to help you... and you think the same. I hope your gentleness opens a crack in her armor so she might see some new light of a different kind.
I tried to study again a few years ago with the Bible Teach book and a smart sister who I respected a lot. I was trying to find the solid foundation to go back, but once I was outside the box I could never go back in. I wanted so much to believe everything she told me and researched and believed with all her heart. I just couldn't do it and had to cut the cord.
I admire your tenacity. I feel for their blindness.

when i was a wee lad, there was a carnival atmosphere at assemblies as this old footage will show:.

They were only fun for me as a kid when I got to volunteer helping in the cafeteria downstairs in the old Circuit assembly venue on Ashland Avenue that used to be a theater in Chicago. Plus during intermission there were plenty of levels and staircases to be climbed... velvet ropes to step over, and balcony seats to be sat in!

today my extended family lost someone much too young.
my 18 month old cousin bryler fell in a swimming pool yesterday and was missing for several minutes before he was discovered.
his mom and grandmother and several other family members performed cpr and tried to revive him while waiting on the ambulance (which took quite a while as they live in the backwoods of southern oklahoma).
This is so sad. I'm sorry for your loss.

You gotta give us a lil' more than a link.... What am I going to see?

my mom used to throw a paper napkin on her head when forcing us to study after i was baptised.
i've seen scarves, and shawls, and a very few hats.. isn't using a napkin on your head just the same as not bothering?
what a dumb rule too.
When I was a teen, my study conduct or put a napkin on her head one time to conduct a study when a baptised brother was present.
Kind of takes away from the seriousness of it all, right?

so it's' been 8 months since i was disfellowshiped.
i moved out of my mothers house accross the country to room with a friend.
things have been going ok, it's just strange to be so far away from everything that felt familiar, even the meetings.
FIND YOUR WORK - stop wallowing in idleness and do something to improve yourself mentally, intellectually. Start a new journey.
Lots of great support and advice here ~ once outside the JW bubble you are now free to be who you are and create a worthwhile life for yourself.
Once you get beyond your rebellion stage, the world is your oyster. Remember: time is precious and you can't get any of it back, so spend it wisely.
We're here for you,

i really do not like that word (apostate), as used to represent someone who decided to remove themselves, or was removed from the influence of the watchtower... but i am curious.. how long have websites like these been in existence?
when did this movement begin?.
personally, how long did it take for you to dare exploring information outside the watchtower publications, about jehovah's witnesses (especially online)?.
Visiting places where xJWs went? Since about '97.
