  That quote is very telling I think my generation, those growing up in the 90's, has entitlement issues. We were told we were beautiful, unique snowflakes that could have whatever we wanted and not have to work very hard to get it. Having a child does not fit in with that concept. I see a lot of people (usually in the pub) who live very self-centered lives. Their desires are paramount to everything else. They can actually be great fun in a party situation but when shit gets real they are as much use as a paper hat.

  Having said that though there are some people who just aren't made to be parents and some who seem to be good parent material but who don't bond with their child and for them maybe it would be better to not have children. How would you know in advance though?

  my sarcasm will get me df'd one day.

  after being disgusted by the bs of the sunday meeting, i chatted with one inactive brother came back for that one meeting.

  i can't exactly remember how it came up, but he told me and a sister whose a close friend of mine that she shouldn't be so uptight, we're no longer under the mosaic law.

  ok, the bible is a fascinating book of fairy tales, so we move on..e. zolfagharifard, some guy states "humans will be very different creatures in just 1000 years from now due to climate change,artificial intelligence and genetic mutations are all set to transform our bodies in drastic ways.

  a mixture of biology and machine on the inside.

  this is only 1000 years from now, what the hell will humans look like in 100000 years????

  With small female pelvises no longer being a barrier to larger foetal craniums, humans increase their brain capacity and become more intelligent and creative. Downside is we start to look like Mekons from Dan Dare.

  Trouser leg B:

  Humans brain size increases but is entirely taken up with rationalising the inconsistencies of the Trump "Post Truth" era and the end result is actually a decrease in intelligence. Humans still look like Mekons, but with sad faces to boot.

  My mother's treatment. Unreal.

  i disassociated myself 3 years ago but have never told my mother, as she lives quite a distance from me in the uk.

  i've have told her that i no longer go to meetings, neither does my son, who is 16.. i haven't seen her for 3 1/2 years.

  i offered to come visit this week but she was incredibly offhand with me and said she couldn't meet with me today as she was on the ministry!!

  Jehovah God is Real

  there are many on this site that do not believe that jehovah truly exists; that he is not a real being.

  but, he is as real as next breath you draw into your nostrils.. some of you say that there is no evidence that he exists.

  yet, none of you can prove that he does not exits.. cofty, (you come to mind), i appreciate that you have stated, without reservation, that you do not believe that god exists.. yet, you cannot prove it.. hope in jehovah..

  i'd like people to list the reasons why they do not believe that jehovah exists.

  My impression is that Jehovah the god is not as important as Jehovah's organisation. I think that the group belonging is what's really important to them. For example if you argue the god is cruel or evil from the bible you'll get a robust defence (well, you do amongst my acquaintances), but if you are negative about the organisation it escalates immediately to Def Con 1.

  Another thing is that most JW's don't seem to live as if what they say they believe is true. The apathetic cart witnessing, keeping the house and car and paying into the pension fund... all things that just would not happen if they truly believed the end was as close as they say.

  I agree that it can’t be stated beyond a doubt that God does not exist. However I think that the god called Jehovah as defined by the JW’s is internally inconsistent and therefore cannot exist. A loving god doesn’t commit hateful acts, a moral god doesn’t act immorally etc.

  Interesting, but we’re discussing the god called Jehovah, not Jesus. You seem to be saying that he does exist but is irrelevant to us today? The problem is that for millions of JW’s the Jehovah concept is horribly relevant.

  Not only that LoveUniHateExams, but if children give a balding man a bit of cheek, they get torn apart by bears acting under gods orders.

  Torn apart by bears.

  There's a documentary called Grizzly Man. In it a couple of people get killed and eaten by a bear. You only hear fragments but it is absolutely harrowing.

  Imagine that happening to children. Not only is it completely wrong, it's still wrong even if it's just a warning tale to make children respect their elders and not a literal account.
