"Do JW's and Born-Again Christians have something in common?
by jads inthis might be funny to some people but i really feel that the reason that jw's and born again christians hate each other so much is because they are so much alike.
they see themselves in each other.
i have been on both sides of the spectum and believe me all of the born-agains that post on this site are more like jw's then they want to admit to themselves.

Jads,
You are right on the mark here. I think that the attitudes of the JW's and the born agains are the same. The JW's say that if you don't believe exactly as we intrepret the Bible to be, then you will all become crispy crittters at Armageddon. The born agains say that if we don't accept their interpretation of the Bible then we will all be cast into the really, really hot pizza oven or something like that. Hmmm. Let me see. Do I want to be reduced to burning embers or do I want to be roasted to a very fine reddish exterior for all eternity. That's a toughy. Decisions, decisions.

Sad, I feel an era is dying.
Me, too.
It is all just a little depressing.

So, what REALLY happened on September 11, a.k.a. the unknowns...???
by reporter init's getting on to almost two years since the events of september 11, and it is striking how little we know about what happened: .
we don't know the real names of any of the hijackers.. we don't know what countries they came from.. we don't know who planned and organized the terrorism.. we don't know who financed it.. we have no idea what actually happened at the pentagon (but i know a boeing 757 didn't go through this hole).
normal video tapes of and from the pentagon building, which should have shown what happened, have never been released (except for one, which poses more questions than it answers).

Thought I would share some ghosts from the past:
A trip to NYC with my son's Fifth Grade Class a few years before 9/11.
The towers were in every shot.
It was a rainy day crossing the river, but the towers always seemed to create a shadow on the skyline.
All arguments aside, take time to pause this July 4th and think about the thousands of lives taken from us that day and the countless number of families that will never heal from their loss.

1975..Let's Keep It Alive!
by Englishman in1975. the end of 6000 years of man's existence, and logically, therefore, the start of the 1000 year reign, which meant that armageddon had to be done and dusted before that.. i remember it well!
the hype at assemblies, my dad giving up his job and selling his home to move where the "need was great", now minimised by mother with her "oh so you're another seventy-fiver are you" comments.. now it's just something that occasionally embarrasses jw's, some of them deny it ever happened, others think that it was all too long ago to be relevent.. maybe we need to put 1975 into a slot where we can all relate to it.
maybe those of us who remember that year could chip in as well.. so, what did happen in 1975?

In l975 I met my husband in High School History class......didn't know at the time that we were making our own history....
Then disco happened. And we knew the end had happened. We just didn't understand the passages properly!~~
Ah...disco.......spent many evenings and nights bar hopping and disco dancing back in the late seventies and early eighties.....when the drinking age was 18.....makes me wonder how I ever survived.

seat belt laws !!!!!!! argh!!!!
by heathen injust wondering how many people here feel that the seat belt law is mandatory for safe motoring.
i can't stand this law myself as if you only forget to put one on the police are happy to pull you over and detain you and write you a ticket.
this is one of those things that i think if there were a public vote over, it would not exist .

And when I see kids riding in cars without being secured in a seat belt I want to smack the creep moron driver!
Me, too.
Not only did my daughter escape death because of wearing her seatbelt, but my mother-in-law's baby brother was killed (a long time ago before seat belts were ever in cars!) when the car they were riding in hit another and my mother-in-law (a small child then) flew from the back seat into the front seat, and when her mother tried to stop her from flying through the window.....she let go of her baby boy in her lap and he was thrown into the windshield and killed instantly. Very sad.

I guess you just can't please everybody!
These same people who ban Harry Potter books, watch movies like "The Others", "The RIng"...... hypocrites!
Ah well, some people are just whacked!
Let's see, I read all five Harry Potter books.......and last time I checked, I could not perform a smidgeon of witchcraft. Not that I wouldn't want to hex a few choice people lately!
Promoting the occult....some people are just not happy unless they are making a mountain out of a molehill.

I was in a car accident, hit from behind, and my car was totalled. My daughter was in a seat belt, it saved her life. If she was not, she would have been thrown through the windshield and killed.
No one is allowed in my car without a seat belt on.
