Should I be with someone who's had lots of pervious partners?
by Jxvi inthanks for reading (i'm sorry this is a little bit of a sensitive topic, though i'll try to be gentle.).
a little back story.
i have been working so hard to build my faith this year, and i am finally at the point where i am beginning to trust god and i want to build an unbreakable relationship with him.

What's The Point?
by AllTimeJeff init's been 12 years since i submitted my resignation letter, and stopped playing by their rules.. in a spurt of manic rationality, i blew up the bridge, sky high.
knowing that the diseased organ would need to be forever removed, away from anything remotely functional in my mind, body, and soul.
lest i be tempted to return.... so, i left.

The challenge is when one in a couple is leaving the WT. It really generates a virtual break

Last week's WT - a convoluted trip back to Earth
by neat blue dog inlast weekend's wt study (nov. 18) had 3 count em three biblical references to the christian hope of heavenly resurrection that had to be twisted into talking about earth to fit their doctrine.. 1:.
in what sense do the mild-tempered “inherit the earth”?
jesus’ spirit-anointed disciples inherit the earth when they rule over it as kings and priests.

“Do You Know the Time?” From WT Sept 2018
by skin inthere is a one page article in the current wt study mag, sept 2018 pg 22 with the title “do you know the time?”.
in that article it describes a number of different ways you can say the time is 1:30. it goes on to say “there are even places where that same time could be expressed as “half two,” meaning 30 minutes before two”.
what i would like to know is this, where in the world does “half 2” mean 1:30?

It is done in some English speaking countries too. I got confused when they did that. So, it is not a lie in this case

Foreign holidays now expicitly forbidden too
by George One Time inhttps://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/jw-celebrate-holidays/.
mostly we read about the regular holidays in the western world.
now the other ones are also named, because some witnesses could be in doubt .

Amazing, almost nothing left to celebrate. What is missing are wedding anniversaries. It is about honoring the couple and partners honoring each other. Or 100 years of an invisible kingdom.
I am happy with this large list as it will wake up more people. Like I said elsewhere, only the WT can make people leave.

Be Honest in All Things - New video exposes a problem with honesty at Bethel/Construction
by George One Time inon tv.jw.org kenneth cook jr. discusses how important it is to be honest when applying for special assignemts.
he mentions health and viewing pornography.
those who viewed pornography during the last year should not apply.

I agree that the porn industry does not have the best reputation. However, the many industries in countries like India, China and Bangladesh or many African countries can be considered far worse in the way to make use (abuse) men, women and children to work in ugly factories, long hours, bad conditions and for hardly any money. Modern slavery. But we still buy these products, do not punish the countries and actually we all accept it. As the porn industry is now far more in the open there are more controls than before and conditions have improved.
People have their own freedom to watch erotic or porn movies, see horror movies, war movies or other explicit contents. It is up to no-one to ask you what you have or not have done. If the WT believes they have the right to intrude the privacy of your life, are they prepared to accept the same questions in return or even other questions like if they have ever been involved in child abuse, indecent behavior, have stolen something, lied to the authorities etc. All such things are not to be expected to be found among religious leaders therefore the rank and file have the right to ask these questions. Not only to those who call themselves the gb but also to those who take the lead in the congregations. See how comfortable they will be with such questions..
The fact the WT organization can permit itself to such question, shows how much control they pretend to have over the flock. It also shows that being baptized as a JW has absolutely no guarantee that the person follows the WT rules. Why else ask?? The WT does not even trust the flock. There is an expression in Dutch that says something like "the way the owner is, that is how he trusts his guests"

by menrov inok, i have been out (officially inactive) for over 5 years now.
and from being frustrated during my awakening, to becoming a true bible student by analysing all doctrines and viewpoints, to being really happy to be out and at the same time, have developed a sense of disgust for the wt.

Ok, I have been out (officially inactive) for over 5 years now. And from being frustrated during my awakening, to becoming a true bible student by analysing all doctrines and viewpoints, to being really happy to be out and at the same time, have developed a sense of disgust for the WT. My wife is still very much a PIMI. But this situation allows me to observe and I am sure you have the same observations in your lifes. And I have come to some conclusion which I like to share here, hence this new topic.
1) for most JW's, their social life is of far more importance than the correctness of what they learn or are "motivated" to do. Their view is that is comes with the package. And even if it is not really scriptural in all its aspects, there is nothing wrong to do it. It is good to help people to learn about God, His name etc.
This means that to them, to those who think like this, it does not make any sense to argue about wrong doctrines or human made rules etc. They feel happy so it is good.2) Also, many JW's do have a love or loyalty towards the God they think they know. That means that leaving the organisation they think it is an act of disloyalty towards their God, Therefore, approaching them with examples of wrong doctrines etc, will not motivate them to leave. Their loyalty is stronger.
3) items 1 and 2 above is also the reason why some (may be many) are more a PIMO than a PIMI though they might not admit it or are aware of that. You can see it by the things in they do not follow the WT like higher education, type of entertainment, children and birthday cakes, worldly friends and activities and other stuff.
They are relatively happy with their life as they live it because of item 1 and/or 2. Again, very difficult to approach these people to consider leaving the organisation for the reasons we all know.4) JW's will mostly leave the organisation because of a personal, nasty or very unpleasant experience. In other words, only the WT can push out their people. At times, we can be lucky to be around to provide the final push or plant the first seed but in my view, the real driver for JWs to leave is the behaviors of the WT (elders, CO's, Bethel people etc). The more personal their bad experience, the more chances they will leave.
Of course, this is actually not desirable because often they become very angry and feeld deceived etc. It is like a very cold shower for them and it will take time for them to stop the cold shower and step into the warmth of a normal happy life outside the WT.Well this is my view. Happy to see others. And by the way, my real name is Michel Vromen.
