Thanks Nelly136. I've been laying it on really thick to my Dad lately. I visit Mom and Dad with my hubby and kids every week and phone during the week, whereas my one brother visits with his family but Dad has to collect them and take them home and my brother's wife is a nasty piece of work (Dad admits this even though she is a 'sister') my other brother moved 4 hours away just over a year ago and Mom and Dad have only seen their grandson 3 times. So much for all that christian love!
I make sure Dad sees that my family have strong moral values, are kind to others, my kids are polite, my hubby is a real gentleman - all that and we are wordly too!!!
The only downside is that Dad took the whole issue of how he'd been treated to the society and the elders who had been mean to him were told to back off and Dad remained an elder - although he gave up being secretary. I've said on here before that I think it would be cruel of me to push the truth about the truth to him as he is one of the old school who truly loves Jehovah although he recognises the infalability of the org.

So p*****d off - need to offload
by neverin ini am so angry - i've been a long term lurker here and an occasional poster but i have just got to offload tonight.
mom and i have never been 'in the truth' but my dad and 2 brothers are.
tonight my dad told me that last night he resigned as an elder (which for me personally is great) but the reason is that because both my parents have health issues, especially mom, my dad has been given 6 months to get his act together and put some more hours in field service as he is 'not leading by example'.

Eat a Placenta?
by skeeter1 inimagine, you are tom cruise/chruch of scientology publicist.
you have a public relations problem - the public thinks tom & his group are wacked out, cult members.. then, tom cruise says to a reporter that he's ready to eat the placenta of his new child after it births.. lol!
this really helps the church of scientology/tom's next movie's popularity.. i realize that today's fathers don't want to wait in a waiting room with a cigar.

When my hubby was born (40 years ago) he was born at home and the midwife told his dad to wrap the placenta in newspaper and burn it. Well in those days they had a coal fire so what did he do? Instead of burning it on a bonfire outside he put in on the coal fire. Apparantely it took days to burn and stunk to high heaven lol.

As my name suggests I was never in the 'truth' but my dad and brothers (and their families) are. There is one thing I have never understood - if Jesus died to atone for the sin of Adam why do we still die? Anyone???

UK & IRELAND MAP
by ballistic ini had an idea that i could build a uk map of everyones location which would show you instantly who is in your area from jwd.. (it might be an idea to do a seperate us one aswell but i'll wait and see if this one takes off first, or if anyone from the us wants to volunteer to do that one).
(and australia but you are all in the same backyard anyway - literally!!!).
anyway, all you have to do is post or email me your username and town and i will draw you on the map above which will change gradually to include everyone!.

I may well be shot down for this but here goes.......I believe that following any organised religion is selfish really - why do it? You may say that it makes you a better person but does it really? It's all about the carrot and stick approach - reward = heaven, ever lasting life, reincarnation etc vs punishment = hell, pergatory, etc. So called christian values, do unto others, etc exist in all religions and to be honest they are just the values we all need to get along together. So why do people need the extrinsic motivation of some 'higher being' monitoring their actions to be 'good people'? Why not just do your best because it's the right thing to do - not just to collect brownie points for the 'after life'.
I don't beleive that I am any better or worse than the next person but I try to do my best by folk and dont beleive that there is anything after this life - I didn't exist before I was born and I wont exist after I die - I beleive that it is only my DNA that will carry on through my kids. My own conscience tells me if I'm on the right path or not.

Who has or has not been invited to the memorial?
by misspeaches inwell the memorial is tmrw night and time is running out to give out invitations.
(au time that is...) .
last night my mother asked me if i've heard from any of my old jw friends.

Yes looking glass - he did realise because a few days later we were talking on the phone and he asked if I felt he had not been supportive enough. To be honest both my parents have been great and dad did try to get a JC set up, but he was over ridden by the PO and CO - the idea being that they were interested in the sin not the crime!!! Anyway I've come to the conclusion that it would be unkind to put any pressure on my dad to leave the "truth" as he is nearly 70 and he would lose contact with my brothers and their families whereas at the moment he had full contact with all of the family because I was 'neverin'.

I have never been an active witness as my mom is an unbeleiver although Dad and 2 brothers are elders. I have posted in the past about the cover up of my sexual abuse by a witness so when my dad told me that he would be doing the memorial talk and invited me along I replied " sorry but my concience wont allow me to consort with people who shield child molesters". That felt so good after 30 odd years of making allowances for my dad's concience matters.lol
