LOL, trujw. My mother would do the exact same thing. "Um, Brother Eldurr, Jesus just told me to leave this cult. What should I do??" I can see it now. Sigh.

What if the prophecy at Daniel speaks of religion?
by twice shy inhi, i'm new here and this is my first post.
i've commented on several posts before and enjoy the feedback on this site above them all.
i was researching some things and this question came to mind.

I don't really like discussing prophecy much, because I (unlike the WTBTS) refuse to deceive someone if I am incorrect in my opinions of future events.
But I will say this... 1) the JWs do not understand Daniel or Revelation and 2) I think the WTBTS itself will play a big role in the future events contained in the book of Revelation :)
Just my personal opinion...to understand things in Daniel and Revelation, I think knowing the events of 66-70 AD and the temple destruction are key. Even down to the 'abomination of desolation'. If you've never read anything about it, it's rather interesting.

Remember this picture?
by Zoos ini went to a small non-denominational church yesterday - first time in a church since i left the borg 4 years ago - and this is how i observed several of the members singing.. .
boy... do those people love to sing.. .
i try not to judge the sincerity of others but i was a little put off by the experience because it looked fake, showy display-ish.

Tiki,
I'm talking about this on the right side of the picture. The guy in the middle...something also looks weird about him and his beard, but I don't have that book and can't see it well enough. Are you talking about the hand? That definitely looks weird, but I just can't see it well enough.

The 144,000 literal part is just more idiocy. It keeps 99% of witnesses separated from God and Jesus' sacrifice. Jesus said that absolutely everyone had to partake of his flesh and blood to have Him or eternal life in them. Anyone who doesn't partake doesn't have Christ or life. So, with this literal thing, they completely cut most witnesses off from God. And don't even get me started on needing the GB as mediator to Jesus and then the Father, or that Jesus is only the mediator to the anointed. Jesus is the ONLY mediator to all mankind and it has nothing to do with a bunch of self-righteous men in their Brooklyn Ivory Tower.
I've looked at that scripture for a long time...about being undefiled by women. It's rather plain. But I'm not sure what it's really supposed to mean. Also, the "kings and priests" ruling with Christ or however it's worded...that implies men only, not women. And that would make sense because there are scriptures that say women can't take the lead in a church/congregation. But there are 'anointed' female witnesses. Prophecy is tricky. I think we will understand it all when it's really time.
Their interpretations of Daniel and Revelation are just plain stupid. Those books they published about them are mostly useless.

Hey There,
The 144,000 teaching is bogus. It was only instituted because they first believed they were all going to heaven, but their numbers grew so fast, Joseph Rutherford had to move fast to try and explain how they couldn't all go to heaven....or something.
The point is...they currently teach that the 144,000 is a literal number and in the very same breath say that the rest of it, like not being defiled by women, is totally symbolic and not that they are, in reality, virgins.
Sorry, but it's all stupid...scripture doesn't work that way. Trying to wrap your head around any of the doctrine is almost impossible.

Satan's tic tacs or GB kool aid?
by sparrowdown inanyone that has been a jw would be familiar with any or all the following scenarios.. 1. you get offered a full time position or promotion after submitting a pioneer application.. 2. a really great bible student you have gets offered a job which means they have to move or have no time for study anymore.. 3. a promising return visit begins a new relationship and the new bf/gf is'nt favourable to jws so the great rv backs off.. 4. a married sister falls pregnant right after her and her husband are invited to bethel or circuit work or gilead.. 5.a couple needs to start caring for an aging parent right after they decide to move to where the need is greater.. etc, etc, etc.
most if not all jw's would tell you satan is to blame,.... or is he?.
satanic pattern of sabotage or blind superstition?.

JustVisiting....PG = pregnant, I assume. EDIT: Millie, sorry...I didn't see your post :)
Call me crazy but I 100% believe that the devil himself runs this organization. These different things happening may be a way for the REAL God to keep these people away - either an RV or to keep someone from getting deeper into it at Bethel, etc.

Hey there,
I'm sorry about your family. My family lately has been proving to me that they love the org more than me too, so I know how that feels.
Bright side of your story...you made a grown man run away like a sissy for no real reason whatsoever, except their twisted definition of 'apostate'.
Just remember that you may be confused, but you're definitely not alone. Have a great weekend :)
