Ya...this whole watchtower makes my head spin. I mean.....why? They are just proudly making stuff up. They put their own spin on the bible. Its so weird.

Marriage of Lamb WT Study- Bridegroom marries "adopted" (children) wife
by bruh2012 inim sure this is stretching it a bit and i have lived a sheltered life, however paragraph 8 of todays wt study of marriage of the lamb- says the king's (jehovah) daughter is the 144,000 as adopted children of jehovah.
they are to marry gods son jesus the bridegroom.. yes i know they are not blood relatives, but how often do you hear of adopted kids marrying within their adopted family of brothers or sisters?.

"The Devil is at Work!"
by HeyThere ini consider myself a christian.
seriously did not even think that jw was that much different...but now i know better and it has my mind spinning.
i have stopped answering questions, say my own prayers to god at the meetings, and plastr on a fake smile.

HeyThere
Thank for for all the responses. i was actually at an assembly all day yesyerday. It was....sad. There are so many good people there, just hanging on to every word. Amd one thing that struck me wazs how they were saying things to brothers, like "you may all be seated, brothers." or "the brothers welcome you" etc.
one apeaker spent time talking about avoiding apostate websites and keeping seperate from the world. he was really going on about the apostates all around. then a speaker was saying "beware of independent thinking, the more you study the publications the more you will understand this!" etc. Another also said that just because there have been doctrine changes and misunderstandings doesnt mean they dont have the truth. nand then a teen girl talking about her life in the truth, and how she is so thankful to jehovah for her spiritual family since her dad isnt a believer and she cant be around him.
cirst chance he gets, my husband wanted to make sure i heard the talk about apoztate sites and that he prayed for me when he heard that. i told him, i heard, and also heard the bit about independnt hinking.
he is not wanting to even qiestion anything jw. i am the one in the wrong.
i am going to take it very slow. i am not going to bring it up to him for a while because i can tell he is stressed out. thank you all for the kind words and suggestions...many good ideas and thoughts on how to deal woth this.

HeyThere
I consider myself a christian. I was raised by the bible. But not JW. Seriously did not even think that JW was that much different...but now I know better and it has my mind spinning. I just can't do it. I can't fake it for long. I have stopped answering questions, say my own prayers to God at the meetings, and plastr on a fake smile. I play games with the WT wording, listen carefully to the Elders speaking for wordplay, etc. And it makes me sad, because so many good people are caught up in this crap. Including my husband, a raised dub. He was inactive when we met and married several years ago...now active and I was active enough to become a un-baptized publisher but I will not be taking it any further. And he knows that.
So, getting to the reason why I titled this thread what I titled it...a few days ago my husband and I got into a JW Teachings vs. the bible debate. I also told him about what church is like, all the missions trips I went on as a child and the wonderful memories that I have from the help I was able to give and the friends I made. I told him I have a relationship with God. I also read him the different versdions of Matthew 24 and the "faithful and discreet slave..." vs. other versions "the faithful and wise servant..." and others where a word or two is changed to make the verse completely different in meaning and that I just can't get with that! And all the blown dates, child abuse, lives lost to organ and blodd issues, disfellowshipping people when they need support the most...It went on for a long time, and I was looking stuff up and giving him answers, even read crazy stuff from the jw.org site itself. We weren't fighting, just debating, nothing bad. We ended it, went out to lunch and spent some time together just running around. Then I had to go meet a friend. When I came home he tells me he talked to his mom about my "doubts" and told her "The Devil is at work!"
I had absolutely nothing to say to that. Because I was too sad, mad, disappointed...just not worth it. I m not mad at him, but mad at this so-called religion that takes advantage of people.
The next day he said something along the lines of me not believing in the bible...and I told him straight up, I believe the bible, just not what the WT publishes as bible truth. Then he went on to say that he can't believe I picked this time, when I am facing major surgery, to have these questions about the borg. I explain, I am fine in my relationship with God. I don't need a JW publication for my relationship with God. ANd JW will not be in control of my medical treatment.
So at this point, I hope he does mention my "apostate thinking" to the elders so he can see what will happen. I hope they come in and see I don't have a "No Blood" bracelet on my wrist. He honestly doesn't believe they would be negative to me in any way.
I am not worried that he will completely turn on me. His brother is disfellowshipped and he is always talking to him and visiting him. So I know there are some things he doesn't follow when it comes to expectations with family. Oh, his mom didnt speak negative about me, either. She told him some people just have to go at their own pace.
Can anyone help me with specific WT material that could help me gently show him TTATT considering he was raised in the borg? I want as much crazy WT stuff I can to show him so he cant excuse it as "an apoostate's word." I want to ease him into knowing that all other religion does not come from satan's system and just because you don't agree with a JW pub doesn't mean you don't believe in God...

Upcoming Surgery and Blood
by HeyThere ini am a newly unbaptised publisher.
recently i found out i need to have major surgery and the jw's tried to rush a blood card in my hand.
i was so relieved when the elders said i could not have one until i was baptised.. but they rushed to get me copies of the blood videos.

HeyThere
Thank you to everyone for the kind words and information. It has been making me a bit anxious.
I had my pre-op and was able to get my sister listed as the person to make emergency mediocal decisions in the event of a medical emergency. i did not tell my husbnd abut it yet...i am hoping it wont even be an issue. I am just not putting him in that position because it is lose-lose for him. He wouldnt want to let me die, but he wouldnt want to go against jehovah. anx the brothers who i am sure will be all up in the business. he would seek council from tbem, and so bad pozition for him. i took it away.
a couple sisters came over tonight to finish watching the blood video. They were all over me asling me if i made sure they knowi dont take blood.
I changed the subject to all the things we did talk about the surgery. I just dont understand!!!!!! they dont give up!

HeyThere
I zoned out. My plan was to jot down contradictions or crazh stuff but... i didnt.
I am a new unbaptized pub, my h was raised dub. he was inactive for several years. he knows i do not believe the kw teaching now...he has been sensitive about it...so imagine my surprise when he started whispering jokes in my ear...about how there were only 2 crackers on each plate, how the sudden onset of crying children was because they couldnt eat a cracker, and he even laughed when i said i should have brought my own crackerz to start noisely chewing after i passed the plate to see what people would say. so we had some fun lol

Did anyone in the congregation discourage you from going to college?
by Trapped in JW land ini remember being out on service with an elder when i was 17. he asked me what i plan on doing after high school.
i told him i was thinking of going to college to be a teacher.
he then asked me, "do you think this system is going to be around that long"?
-
HeyThere
my h was raised a dub. he was not allowed to play sports and was discouraged from college. when we got together, he ended up going and getting a degree.
they are already making comments to my daughter. even my husband. to the point where i have told her that i will always have her back amd she can go to school to be whatever she wants.

HeyThere
bmy husband was inactive for several years, before we were dating. we started going about a year ago...but i just became an unbaptized publisher in the last montb. prior to my convo with elders, i was all in...thinkimg ot is just christianoty with some tweaks. it was durimg my elder convo to become an unbaptized pub that my eyes opened. they basocally said that they count all people who have attended kh for any period of time as jws in their numbers, even disfellowshipped, inactive ones, etc. didnt matter if you havent been to a hall in 15 years, you are countd in the number reported unless you provided a letter of resognation to the elders. this seemed odd to me, so i started to question things, did research, and here i am.
my h knows how i feel, but i also support him. this is the only religion he knkws so it will take time to tell him ttatt because of that. but he does know i have no intemt of getting bPtized anymore.
sorry for typose my phone is not acting right....

Are JW'S "hated" in all the world? Or...are they considered IRRELEVANT?
by Terry inwathctower 90/1/1 p. 12 par.
8 not ashamed of the good news .
while it is true that jehovahs witnesses are hated and opposed in all the nations of the earth, this is in fulfillment of what was foretold to be an identifying mark of genuine worshipers of the one living and true god.
-
HeyThere
yep they are fudging the numbers. they slipped up when they told me and i dont think they even realize they made the slip they made. or think i didnt catch it. but yes, anyone whoever attended for any period of time is apparently counted. whether they stopped going 15 years ago is irrelivant. even if they were children who stopped going even as teemsthey are counted according to what was said.

HeyThere
i had no clue about the real jw religion. i thought it was basically standard christian with some small differemces that i never really thought about. this past year my h who was raised dub but inactive for a decade started going again. i started studying, recently became an unbaptised publisher. during my quiz with the elders, they said something that didnt sot well with me. they said they count all members, even inactive disfellowshipped, etc. as members unless they formally write a resignation letter.
so how many dubs are there, really?
i started digging amd didnt like what i found.

The Apostasy Within
by Ultimate Axiom inin the latest watchtower (july 15, 2014, page 14, paragraph 10) it says; today, jehovahs people are not often confronted with apostasy within the congregation.
still, when exposed to unscriptural teachings, regardless of the source, we must decisively reject them.. so, not often, but occasionally jws are exposed to apostasy within the congregation, and they are instructed to decisively reject it.
as we all know, the vast majority of the apostasy they are exposed to comes from the governing body.. i am meeting up soon with an old friend from the 1970s who i havent seen for decades, who is still an active jw, and who would really like to hear what i think about things.
