jws look down on others for saying, "bless you" if someone sneezes.

it has something to do with the demons.

another example is that it is considered satanic if a man took his hat off for a lady!

There are a few things that I have found...interesting or even bizarre about witnesses.

Holiday/birthday food: It is almost like a fear of eating it. One sister was telling me about how a Co - worker brought her back a piece of birthday cake and she basically freaked out on her...When the Co - worker was being nice! I was so thrown off by the story...Maybe one of the first Wtf moments I had about jwisms. Or maybe I am just greedy but I never turned down birthday cake... or a good thanksgiving stuffing. Mmmmm, stuffing....

JW kids and "worldly" friends: I have seen first hand how the witnesses strongly discourage and "tsk tsk" about the kids having such friends. This can make kids socially awkward. My husband was trying to prevent my child from having "worldly" friends but I kept taking her to hang out with them. On that note, he also attempted to do that with me but I didn't bite. When I would mention a non dub as a friend, such as "Hey, remember my friend so - and - so?" He would say "She is not your friend" another weird jwism. Only other Jws are your friends. They even call people they have never met friends. Hmmm...

The whole stigma about saying "God bless you" when someone sneezes or "good luck"...never understood that.

The obsession with labeling things as demonic. Movies, toys, clothes: demonized. Smurfs, unicorns, fairies, w8zards, etc. I never knew so many demons were lurking about in inaminate objects. I was talking about how good "I Am Legend" is, and the sister I was talking to (one of my in-laws) her eyes got all big and she looked at me offended and said "I ain't letting no demons up in my house, no no." I was woke up atthis point, and I asked her how it would letting demons in her house. She just looked at me. So I explained that the zombies in this movie have a virus due to a reaction from an anti cancer drug. She just shook her head. So did I.

Demons - Possession - Dreams & Witnesses

i would like to get some opinions from you all.. .

have you known a lot of witnesses that have dealt with demon issues?

have you personally dealt with problems with demons?

I am very skeptical of any demons and/or spirit possessions, harrassments, etc. I have heard the stories...and often they are told relaying a story of what happened to someone they knew who knew somebody.

Now, I have had crazy dreams, which I don't mind, but I could see a die hard witness freak out and think it was demons or Satan invading their mind.

Okay, one sister told me she knew a sister who got sick every time she wore earrings she got at a garage sale. She threw them out because the demons were making her sick, so she never gets anything from garage sales. I still get things from garage sales, never an issue.

I tend to think such experiences are manifested in the human mind. If you believe a demon can harrass you, then you would be more inclined to believe something is caused by demons when it really is just a dream, or a shadow, or whatever. But if you don't believe a demon is able to harrass you, then you are more likely to realize that the shadow isn't a demon but your curtain in the wind...

Earthfire, I feel the same way about my husband and his family. This stuff is so unreal... it would make a good book though. Fiction, but written better than the recently published fiction from the wtbts "God's Kingdom Rules!"

I think it looks like a good movie...So if the story is told nicely it should be fine...movies exaggerate to build the story...I mean it's not like there really are transformers or zombies (ok, I have seen some zombies) but you know what I mean.

"Witness to Murder" an upcoming program on US TV about a JW family will air August 20th...

i was informed yesterday that a us cable tv channel named investigation discovery will be broadcasting a 7-part series named "deadly devotion.

" one program in the series is "witness to murder" which will air wednesday evening, august 20th, probably at 9 p.m. est.

check the schedule on the internet which lists the date and time of broadcast two-weeks ahead.

I used to think that dubs were a harmless, eclectic religion. I pretty much ignored. I was raised Christian (methodist) but also went baptist, too. I had allot of fun! I helped teach babies and kids bible stories that were APPROPRIATE FOR KIDS! NOT TALKING about sex, such as the bible reading tonight did. We went on missions trips were we *gasp* helped people! Us kids raised the money doing car washes, house clean Ing, can collections, bake sales, etc.we had a blast. My best memories of childhood include that...having fun helping people...soup kitchens, keeping the old folks company at the home, helping the older ones in the cong with house cleaning, even hosting valentines couples dinners for church member to come and support our trips. It was a learning experience for us all, but man we had a blast. People liked being in our church youth group.

I look around this cult and their history and see...not any of that! Kids are part of disturbing talks from the time they are infants, hearing all the distressing talk, wrapped up with "jehovahs is love." They become young dubs...dronEs. no helping those in need, no helping the public, just field service field service more more more. MORE!!!!!!! LIST3N, OBEY, AND BE BLESSED. REPEAT UNTIL YOU CANT FEEL YOUR TONGUE ANY LONGER.

LISTEN! OBEY! BE BLESSED! You will be so happy! Aren't all dubs so happy?!?!?!

Pets aren't people, says speaker at Regional Convention. Fido and Mimi better watch out! And instead of drinking wine or beer go do some gardening or play golf.

a big discussion driving back from the regional convention about what exactly was meant about pets.. the warning was obvious to me.

don't get pets, they cost time and money and you would do better to spend your time and money supporting the organization and going in field service.. as to the wine and beer, because the bro during his soliloquy admitted that the first thing he would like to do is relax after a hectic day at work with a glass of wine or beer, his conscience was traumatized.

however he came up with a perfect idea, he'd go tend the garden (obviously a solution for a married bro) or hit some golfballs at the driving range (maybe he's not married).. maybe jesus should have told the wine guzzlers at cana to sober up and go till the fields.. .

I love animals. They have feelings, personalities, love, learn, teach. From horses to goats...yes, even goats, animals are amazing. Watching them interact can be very eye opening.

The GB doesn't want dubs to like anything but them and the all things wt. It is sad so many people fall for their schemes...but they wrap it up so nicely, and their publications, while written at an elementary school level, are written in a way to manipulate emotions. I hope dubs don't start abandoning their pets after this...
