I think I just found a way to make meetings more fun!
isn't that just annoying?
can people even comment in their own words anymore?
how bad is it where you're at?
I think I just found a way to make meetings more fun!
my husband is actually asking me questions about the governing body saying they are the mouthpiece of jehovah and the whole jesus invisible rulership in 1914 etc.
i am looking up stuff now to show him but if you have any proof, qotes, etc.
to help me wake up my husband please send to me now asap!.
Thank you to everyone for all of the help - wonderful tips and info and links - I can't thank you enough.
Though my husband was asking questions and wanting me to show him things, it feels like 1 step forward and 2 steps back --- ever since our conversation he has been very distance and hardly speaking to me at all. I have not been pushing the matter - this is how he becomes when he is upset about something, not necesarrily mad at me but just upset in general. And soon he will let me know what he has been thinking...I am still gathering information but I know this will be very hard for him as it has been all he knows for his life and a large number of his family are active jw's. Many decisions in his life were made based on the religion, so I can only imagine the emotional turmoil one would face...it is so sad.

it is mildly entertaining how people crowd around after the meeting is over "i loved your comment" " your comment was wonderful!" when all i did was read a line from the dang book....lol.
miss k and her friend miss w arrived promptly today.
our scheduled topic of discussion: jesus' claim to be "the way, the truth and the life..." john 14:6 since she was basing this topic choice on the fact that i had quoted that verse, i'm not sure why... she spent what seemed like a very long time, hopping through scriptures that all said that jesus was the truth, the way, or the life.
ok, so we agreed... i kept waiting for her to get to a point, or sway from this principle.. of course, she summed up with scriptures that show how jesus submits to the father, and what does that mean we should do?
you did awesome...and thank you for sharing you have given me some nuggets to use in my sitch, too!

thank you so much i have already started printing stuff out he caught me by surprise askimg about it. earlier i had memtioned the donation arramgement. i wasnt there when the letter was read, but i asked him about it. i had already given him a heads up before ot was read, and told him that i was going to see if the info i found about jws was legit if this letter was read. so yes, letter was read, he didnt quite understand it so i explained it to him. end of convo. so tonight, he said that he will seriously start thinking about all this if they pass out anything askimg about a monthly pledge. then he asked about 1914 and the gb being Jehovahs mouthpiece on earth....i also told him tonigjt that i take dedicating my life to God very seriously amd wamt to make sure the religion i choose is not claiming false things.
oh...we also got into a debate about beards....he mentioned he misses his goatee but is self sacrificing to please jehovah...even our 12 year old jumped in like what??? why would jehovah care about a beard???? funny thing, we were doing family wt study and were on the page with the pic of the apostles and their.....BEARDS!!!!! we had a little fun with that one!

i am feeling so emotional right now.
crazy doctrines aside, these child abuse cover-ups are horrendous.
add them together and i feel like there is a churning black hole sucking the souls out of these children.. now, i realize there are boys who were abused as well, but i get this overwhelming feeling that girls/women are simply not valued and/or taken seriously or accused of being liars or demonic or, even worse, viewed as a harlot, whore, or temptress in the majority of situations, no matter the age or the brutality of the rape.

It is just sick.
" Jehovah Witnessism......the only religion where putting a paper cut finger in your mouth subjects you to eternal damnation. What a friggin cult."
rotflmbo
Sad yet...still so funny!
look at this pile of steaming horse sh*t. this is meant to soften the horror of this god of war destroying 7,000,000,000 men, women and children in a holy jihad.
draw close book p 65 .
19 consider an illustration: suppose that a mans family was being attacked by a vicious animal and that the man jumped into the fray and killed the violent beast.
Oh my...I totally have not been keeping up with the reading. I am not surprised though, this religion is nutz.
so its now all clear!.
the reason why that damned wt article several months back said the quote:.
"we may be asked to do something by jehovahs organization, and we should be ready to obey even if it doesnt seem reasonable from a human standpoint or not".
Longhairgal said: So sad. I do believe many JWs are like the proverbial frogs in the water who are boiled to death and they can't even see what is happening to them...It is a sad state of affairs in the religion. First, you check your brain at the door. Then, you are told to let down your guard and "widen out". There are too many ways to be victimized in that place. All the togetherness and nosiness is not normal. People do not respect boundaries.
It really is. At first it sounds so sonderful - I mean who wouldn't wan to live forever in paradise with no sickness or death? And the love-bombing - I mean these people are amazing at this! Hugs, kind words, I am always told I am so beautiful, I am so smart, they love me like I am a flesh and blood sister...and even my 12 year old told me : "Mom, you know they will stop talking to you when you stop going! They are not real friends!" This was said to me by my child when I was trying to point out some positives about the people there.
She hates going, she doesnt believe it and will not get sucked in...but she goes along with it very well. We are both trying to be stategic, and I have told her that no matter what anyone ever tells her, that she should never blindly believe anything or anyo one without checking it out first.
Now how sad is that when you have to strategize about your "friends"???
Now I have noticed that most JWs that I meet are either born-in, raised in, or married in. I have yet to meet anyone that isn't older that just joined up...has anyone else noticed that?
Lemings...
