  Are we too hard on INDIVIDUAL JW's?

  i am definitely no longer a jw (11 years).

  that having been said, living in a "democratic" land, the one thing that is challenging is agreeing with freedom of religion, but also protesting when it becomes offensive.

  don't get me wrong..... my family shuns me completely and i do think that it is "offensive", and against the laws of nature, which makes the point even more legitimate...... : do they really know what they are doing?

  I agree. The problem, though, with attacking their leaders is that they are all allowed to consider themselves as leaders. Heck, if you think about it, if you got 10 hours last month in field service and you know that brother "has four kids" only got 9 hours, then you are still a "leader", right?

  When I went to brother blank (elder) about what my four year old said her nanny did, brother blank asked my ex mother-in-law what she had to say about it and my ex m-i-l said, mind your own business. And he did. She has been a regular pioneer for about 20 years......... she has also screwed the gov't that entire time by going on "disability" but of course JW's don't care about that cheating that happens.

  I am definitely no longer a JW (11 years), and, while not opposed to the basic Christian teachings, I do not consider myself a Christian either. However, I find myself sometimes having very harsh, negative feelings towards them, even though I am very peaceful outwardly. When I feel these negative feeligs, I try to remind myself that these people are just searching for what they feel is right.

  That having been said, living in a "democratic" land, the one thing that is challenging is agreeing with freedom of religion, but also protesting when it becomes offensive. Don't get me wrong..... my family shuns me completely and I do think that it is "offensive", and against the laws of nature, which makes the point even more legitimate...... : do they really know what they are doing?

  The witnesses came to my door this weekend, and I let them have it. I told them that they condone child abusers (my ex mother-in-law hurt my 4 old daughter and then told her to tell the doctor that I did something to her that I won't mention here).....(sorry for the graphic info, but I think it is necessary to convey the thought.)

  My question is, did I shock those witnesses at my door this weekend into realizing what is going on in their religion or did I push them further into believing that the world is so screwed up that "God" really needs to come down and save us?

  I really feel that what I did for myself and my kids was right at that moment but is it more than about my family?

  my husband and i have been married a little over a year now and it has been the happiest year of my life.

  i have finally found someone that i truly love and that truly loves me.

  he's also my best friend.

  I read all the posts so far and they are very enlightening. I was especially interested in this topic, since I am about a week away from my divorce being official.

  So from the opposite side of the coin, I would say that my ex and I didn't ensure that we had enough in common... I think that is very important, but if you have differences they should be respected, not critcized.

  I would also strongly agree with others here that said that COMMUNICATION is very important. We never did well enough in that category either. But, hey, I'm looking forward to my next relationship, having learned a lot of these things the hard way.

  Speaking of that, does anybody know if itsallgoodnow is available?

  Which men / lads here cry when listening to music / watching films?

  you know how some of us guys have to put on a bit of an act sometimes, we have to set our faces into our coping scowl, but underneath, we're too well aware of just how soft we are?

  well.. what music to the big guys here only, not you wimpy bunch, brings a tear to your eye or which films is it that you need to keep a box of tissues handy by you to wipe away the dampness in your eye?.

  for celtic it's a track by dido - white flag and also black eyed peas - where is the love?

  I haven't read any of the other posts yet, but yes, i do cry sometimes when watching a great movie..... "Radio" being the last one.

  I have also shed a few tears when listeningg to moving music as well. And I am not ashamed to admit it.

  Is The WTBS Really Crumbling?

  there have been posts and topics about the wtbs imploding and feuding factions in bethel etc.

  some have said that the end is near for the wtbs.

  is this just wishful thinking...or do you really think that this is a reality?

  I personally think their numbers will continue to dwindle but they will likely never disappear as an organization. There are too many emotinally disturbed people out there that THINK that they can't exist without it. (My family being one such group of people..... )

  (I was going to write more about my opinion, but my desire to predict their downfall kind of made me feel like I was being like them. Scary thought. On to more positive topics......... )

  1975 - Love it or hate it?

  i find it quite interesting that, due to minimus' thread about "the end", there were a lot of comments about 1975. everybody who made comments about it here didn't seem very bothered by the fact that they had such high hopes for the year and were let down by yet another false jw prediction.

  yet the borg chastises and condemns as being arrogant those same people who may have drifted away because of it.

  to me, that says a lot about how, even subconsciously, great it must be to be out of that high control organization.

  To me, that says a lot about how, even subconsciously, great it must be to be out of that high control organization. The ones who were guilty of the false prophecy are bitter and yet the victims of the false prophecy are able to put it in the past so easily.

  Makes me believe even more that it is against good mental health and against human nature to be involved in an organization that teaches us delusional thoughts.

  It sounds like she just has the JW religion in her life as a social safety net, now. (Which is cool) Maybe she can be a positive influence on some of the less open-minded ones there. People like her are few and far between in that religion, IMO. Most seem to need it to fill a deep-rooted need for acceptance, no matter what the cost to them and the others they judge.

  Should I renounce my baptism to the JW organization?

  i got baptized in 1986, when i was 17. i got df'd in 1992, when i was 22.

  (april birthday.. df'd early in 1992.... .

  i don't want to sound like i am complaining about this next part because i actually have a very happy life right now with very few exceptions/concerns.
