Minor, Jehovah's Witness, beaten by several policemen in Morón, complains his father
Luis Lemagne Millán, 15, was beaten at a police station in Morón and transferred to a Provincial Detention Center in Ciego de Avila. Parents are unaware of the reasons for the arrest.
A minor has been detained since February 28 at the Provincial Unit for the Detention of Minors in Ciego de Avila, although he is not accused of any charges, according to his father in an interview with Radio Martí.

The minor was assaulted at the police station and then taken to the hospital where he received medical attention. From there he was transferred to the juvenile section of the Detention Center in the city of Ciego de Ávila, contiguous to the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior.
"We went to warn the house at 2:00 am but we could not see it until 10:00 am in the hospital. That's where we could do the photos of the blows in the face," said Luis, who believes that the cruelty against the son occurs because the family is Jehovah's Witness and the black race.

YES, exactly! - I thanked her for posting the article and a working link - actually a big thank you for providing a WORKING link to the article.

the page on SMH has now been DELETED and does NOT work! The SMH article has been MOVED to a new location on their website and therefore needs a NEW link - which I noted has handily been added to the bottom of the link that thankfully Barbara provided in her OP above.

I understood that jwleaks was trying to do a "List all media reports here for future reference" - that's a problem when certain news organisations, such as the SMH, decide to DELETE online news articles after they have been published and MOVE them to NEW location on their website WITHOUT doing a 301 - but as you say: ' I know that tech is hard.'

Nathaly Encarnacion said she was hurt and devastated when her son came home from school telling her and her partner that all three of them were going to hell because of his moms' same-sex relationship.

It started when Encarnacion's son brought home a Jehovah's Witnesses business card in early February, she said.
He had missed his regular bus home from Alta Vista Elementary School one afternoon and was put on a different bus. He told the driver, later identified as Jacobo, that he was worried his two moms would be upset that he was getting home so late, Encarnacion said.
Jacobo allegedly told the boy in Spanish that he won't get into heaven because of his parents' same-sex relationship and gave him the business card.

“I've gotten a lot of backlash because I've been told Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in hell,” she added, “but what he described to me is what I think of as hell.”

“The School District's review of this incident has been completed,” spokesman Jason Geary wrote in an email. “She has been counseled by her supervisor on how to properly interact with students, including not to discuss or promote religious matters with students.”
Jacobo was hired Aug. 31, 2012, and has no disciplinary action in her personnel file, according to Geary.
A policy advisory letter signed by both Jacobo and her supervisor Wednesday will be placed in her file, he said.
It calls Jacobo a valued team member and reads, “This letter is not to be construed as disciplinary in nature, but is intended to inform or re-familiarize you with School Board policy as it relates to student supervision and welfare.”
The letter points out standards of ethical conduct that state a support staff member with direct access to students shall “make a reasonable effort to protect the student from conditions harmful to learning and/or to the student's mental and/or physical health and/or safety” and “not intentionally expose a student to unnecessary embarrassment or disparagement.”

it is understood to be a recently adopted policy for distribution to congregations in australia.

It would appear that when you get called on by JWs in either the UK or the Rep of Ireland, you should be able to ask them to get you a copy to read.

From time to time, organizations and others ask to see our Policy for handling matters relating to child abuse. Of course, our comprehensive and long-standing policy has been set out in various publications over the years. However, to help answer such enquiries, we have a Child Safeguarding Policy. The policy has been recently revised.
The Child Safeguarding Policy summarizes key Scriptural and theocratic principles for the protection of children. The policy includes the articles listed on page 6. Once you have entered the telephone numbers on page 6 of the Child Safeguarding Policy document, it should be printed. The articles listed in the “Notes” section are part of this document and should also be printed. Place the policy and the articles in a folder of its own, and then keep it in the congregation file. As stated on page 5: “This Policy will be made available upon request to members of the congregation.”

Of course you could also get a copy of the Child Safeguarding Policy from your local AmDram Society, Youth Group/Sports Group and compare them.

In terms of newsworthiness, and visitors to this forum - both those returning or new visitors coming here due to the news coverage in Australia - this is a critical few days for keeping such a petition as this to the forefront of people's attention so that it can build up a momentum and really take off.

The window of opportunity for doing this is small, and it needs to be seized with both hands at THIS time, if it is to have any opportunity of succedding.
