New Book - "Shunned: How I Lost my Religion and Found Myself" by ex-Jehovah's Witness Linda A Curtis
we all know waking up from the cult and trying to leave is a very scary and life changing experience.
for many it's traumatic and few find the transition easy.
we have to deal with families cutting us off entirely or keeping us at arms length at best, lies being told about us by the organization, ex members gossiping about us and finding ourselves in a world very different from what we're prepared for.. for this reason, i've decided to start writing a self-help book informing jws of what to expect when they leave the org.

web statistics are not generally an exact science - the 'best' indication is normally the 'unique' visitor number - although one person may be using more than one device to access the website (ie using desktop and mobile), but also more than one person may being using the same device (ie a shared home desktop).. on a forum-style website, the number of 'page views' is a bit pointless as it will normally always be much, much higher than a non-forum-style website - but it can give a general idea on how engaged visitors are (how many topics/threads they are reading).
slimboyfat: Plus wasn't the abridged annual report released in January?
I don't think that would have necessarily triggered visits to an 'ex-jw' website / forum.
The annual report was released at the end of December 2017.
I released my own version (gleaned from the JWorg website) on December 26, 2017:
2017 Service Year Report Worldwide Table with individually lands/countries
JWorg released their own 'official' version on December 31, 2017
slimboyfat: How does it compare with Mormon readits or whatever you call it?
The ExMo reddit has around 3-and-a-half MORE members/subscribers than the ExJW one.
John Free: 3 million page views in a month! Am I reading that correctly?
I think the highest is around 2-and-a-half million page views - but on a forum, page views are a bit meaningless as each topic/thread that is viewed counts as a 'page view' - so it is easy for visitors to rack up high numbers, compared to a standard (non-forum) website.

Yeah new devices could be a reason - though I suspect most of them are replacing existing devices, so less incentive to web browse purely for the novelty.
Ex-JW-wise there where a number of major events in January, including

A vow of poverty was mentioned in the Proclaimers book

Also, taking vacation time releases one from the vow for that time, for example to do paid work outside bethel - so take a vacation day, claim the inheritance, then go back the next day.

New York Kingdom Hall converted to a bar - PIX 11 (US), February 2, 2018
As I explained below, there's 140,000 population on the Island of 148 square miles. That works out (using national ratio) to 300 JWs in five congregations (60 publishers in each) - they had four Kingdom Halls, but now they have three Kingdom Halls.
For comparison:
Yearbook 2000, page 121
The Isle of Wight, off the south coast, has seven thriving congregations.

murder convictions overturned because jehovah's witness not allowed to serve on jury.
february 14, 2018rafael olmeda.
Broward Circuit Judge Jeffrey Levenson was wrong to keep a member of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, commonly known as Jehovah’s Witnesses, off the jury, according to the Fourth District Court of Appeal.
The appeals court drew a distinction between common understanding of a group’s religious beliefs and an individual member's adherence to those beliefs.
“The potential juror stated that she would follow the law and gave no indication that she would allow her status as a Jehovah’s Witness to affect her decision-making at all,” the court ruled. “In moving to strike her, the state merely relied on the juror’s membership in a religion without any testimony that it would actually affect her service as a juror.’’
