To be holy, we must weigh the Scriptures carefully and do what God asks of us. Consider Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu, who were executed for offering “unauthorized fire,” perhaps while inebriated. (Lev. 10:1, 2) Note what God then told Aaron. (Read Leviticus 10:8-11.) Does that passage mean that we must not drink anything alcoholic before going to a Christian meeting? Think about these points: We are not under the Law. (Rom. 10:4) In some lands, our fellow believers use alcoholic beverages in moderation at meals before attending meetings. Four cups of wine were used at the Passover. When instituting the Memorial, Jesus had his apostles drink wine that represented his blood. (Matt. 26:27) The Bible condemns heavy drinking and drunkenness. (1 Cor. 6:10; 1 Tim. 3:8) And many Christians would feel impelled by their conscience to abstain completely from alcoholic beverages before engaging in any form of sacred service. However, circumstances vary from one country to another, and the important thing is for Christians to “distinguish between the holy thing and the profane” so as to conduct themselves with holiness that pleases God.
We can now drink before meetings! Drink up
is there anyone who is currently appointed who can tell me what this 10 min meeting with the co was about?
he made the announcement that he wants to meet with all appointed men right after the meeting..
@dagney The org very rarely mentions those who have left. It is only about getting new ones. A close relative of mine has been inactive for 20 years but still attends meetings, and he had an elder tell him that he doesn't consider him a brother! I bet he will not be called on by the elders this week,

ok, i'll admit it...i am weak.... as everyone knows, the pressure to "pioneer" during "the most momentous, awesome, amazing, centenary anniversay of jesus invisble kigdom rule, & distribute tracts about a dodgy website" campaign is very strong at the moment.... also, many will have read my threads about the extreme views and expectations in our cong for "all appointed men to pioneer" etc..... every elder and ms and their families have been announced as pioneering....i mean everyone's name was read out except mine..... i was not going to do it, as i do not believe anyone should be forced...(and of course its the last thing on earth i would rather do anyway since learning ttatt).
but i am not quite ready to make the break yet, so i realised that i would stand out more if i didnt put in a form to pioneer.
yes it would make me more conspicious, and make fading harder to do...it would bring more heat on me if i didnt pioneer.. so i gave in and submitted a form.... now, of course, i'm only going to make sure i'm seen at the key field service groups etc...but then go and do something more interesting...like count blades of grass..... ahh....i feel hypocritical to myself now......
Am I the only one who thinks this campaign is a slap in the face to the R&F? They want us to put in historical hours to get people to visit the website to answer all their bible questions. I thought that is why we were at their door, to answer their questions. No, they want people to go to website and fill out a follow up form so they can send a pioneer or elder back!
As for pressure, I don't think they could remove from a servant for not aux. pioneering, but even if they did, you don't seem to enjoy it anyway. You can still be a part of congo without being a servant. Why hang on if you dont enjoy it.
ok, is this a "new understanding" or what?
up until this point i thought that the borg refered paul as a co or do, but never gb member:.
p. 12 now, why would paul a spiritual giant who likely was a member of the first-century governing bodycall himself a miserable man?.
@AnnOMaly
That 85 QFR is great because when you read down a couple of paragraphs it admits that the bible doesn't say how often they met or who made up governing body. That's why they say it reasonable to conclude.
My CO kept saying that on stage at the Circuit assembly and I asked him where he got that he refered me to that 85 WT.
Paul was a man that everyone always questioned whether he was an apostle, was only mentioned being in Jerusalem 3 times. How was he involved in making decisions?
The WT is slick because they never say for sure about anything, but they word it in a way to lead you believe what they want you to believe. But when it turns out they were wrong they can always say, we never said he was, we said it he was LIKELY.
old timers, or careful readers of the proclaimers book, are familiar with the "testimony card" used in the early days of rutherford-era door to door witnessing.
the jw would traipse up to a house, knock, hand the card over to the householder, and wait while he read it.. well, it seems that "everything old is new again".
here is an excerpt from a recent boe letter:.
Can you scan letter and post it please? Aren't the Mormons already doing this?
