the biggest surprise in the flock book was the hiding-for 3-years serious sin absolution provision for elders (if with "jehovah's evident blessing").. the second is the remark regarding an inactive person, and the situation:.
"is the person willing to meet with a committee, thus admitting accountability to the christian congregation?".
now, the bible says: i want you to know that the head of every man is the christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the christ is god.
The KS does NOT specifiy 3 years. I will pull the quote and paste but its something about a significant period of time
There is a subsequent letter to BOE that clarifies what is "more than a few years ago."
Child abuse would probably not be absolved that simply.
"evidence of God’s blessing" is not clarified.

So, how is it that this brother that disappointed me can maintain a good standing?
Forgot to mention that Saul lost his good standing.
Not a good comparison.

Now, the Bible says: “I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the Christ is God.” (1 Corinthians 11:3)
For me, Corinthians is black-and-white - a Christian man's head is Christ - not ANY man. Therefore, no man is "accountable" to a committee (the Christian congregation).
Any thoughts from elders?
i'm about half-way through the novel "watch how we walk," written in 2013 by a born-in, jennifer lovegrove.. absolutely worthwhile read.. does this paragraph sum up jw-land?.
"i was paranoid again, like i had been back home, as though someone was scrutinizing and judging me.
although i was alone, it reminded me of being at the kingdom hall.

Does this paragraph sum up JW-land?
"I was paranoid again, like I had been back home, as though someone was scrutinizing and judging me. Although I was alone, it reminded me of being at the Kingdom Hall. While the elders preached peace and empathy from the podium, everyone sat and speculated as to who would be the next to be disfellowshipped. Glances darted from behind folded Watchtowers, and every nudge implied knowledge of someone's wrongdoing. A cupped hand at an elder's ear was a conspiracy. Rumours and traitors were rampant. The whispers were ceaseless. There was always bloodlust."

88JM: Actually, this thread was started before that other one. But, eh, it don't matter. haha
Good case for threads being merged, as some people (moi) are obviously thread-blind. (I did look, didn't see it.)

blondie posted in another thread the july 15, 2011 extra-simple wt.. paragraph 12 has an amazing double-speak therein..
this idea makes people think only about today.
they do not care about the future or about pleasing god.
Article was 3 lies of Satan.
This was one of them - that there is no future.
The 2 points I observed -
1. Worldly people are criticized for career-building, retirement planning, family planning, etc. (rearranging Titanic deck chairs, et al). Whereas the article says that they are only living for today, and not for the future.
2. (Worldy) people think only about today. We don't and we show it by the way we live - by living only for today.
