My mom has some really nice people in her congregation too. One is an elder's wife, too. She checks on my mom when she's sick, even brings her soup. You get so mad about the organization itself, that you forget that there are some really nice people.

But some are nice - come on admit it.
by eyeslice inbut you have to admit that some are nice caring people.
my wife missed the meeting to night due to flu and a sister who has far more health problems than us phoned to ask after her.
she even asked after me, brother 'long time no see'!

JWD flyers on cars at KH's
by ko38 in.
what if we all printed up some flyers advertising ..........seek the truth about the truth.go to jw.com for the answers to questions youv'e had or may have.read articles from the watchtower that the society hopes you will never find.. could we legaly put those on their windshields during a meeting?im sure we could do it at least once, and then if asked to leave comply with their wishes.its a well nown fact that out of 100 or 1000 or 100,000 that some will take the bait and check it out just due to human curiousity.. if we all started using the same informal preaching as them such as dropping flyers at laundry mats and phone booths and grociery stores etc you would think it would catch on.i havent counted all the members of this board and how many countries are represented but it sure looks like a lot to me.. what do you guys and gals think?..............ken

Watchtower/83/3/1/p.25-Says Opposers Believe God's Spirit Can Direct!
by Voyager insays-quote: under the heading of (opposers):.
16 consider some of the other "twisted things" used to mislead god?s people today.
on occasion opposers will question the various teachings that jehovah?s people hold in common.

To hold to the headship of Christ, it is therefore necessary to obey the organization that he is personally directing. Doing what the organization says is to do what he says. Resisting the organization is to resist him.
Damn, that is just CREEPY.

Disfellowshipping Is A Way To Show Jehovah Loves You..........
by minimus inthat comment has been made a number of times.
since jehovah loves those he disciplines, short of stoning one, this is god's way of saying, i love you"......stupid, huh?

They are Sooooooooo Over-rated !!
by ScoobySnax inever listened to someone who goes on and on about someone or something (and i don't mean jehovah's witnesses here!
) like they were the best thing since sliced bread.....and try as you might you just can't see the attraction?.
my brother-in law must have every sodding elvis record/picture/memorabilia thing going, and he goes on and on about him.
-
kj
I also think the Lord of the Rings is way over-rated too.
I will second that! Everyone I know just loves them, I fell asleep during the first one and didn't waste my time on the other 2. I'm still catching crap over it.

Walsh case, in Crisis of Conscience AND in JW Yearbook (1973)
by FreedomFrog in(again, this is dave, posting for gina) .
gina really thinks on her feet!
when she met with her parents, she brought up the infamous "walsh case" in crisis of conscience, where the watchtower higher-ups (including fred franz) had to give embarrassing testimony under oath about the watchtower's controlling methods and tactics.

Things kids say & do that bring a lump to your throat
by Simon inyou know what i mean ... when they do something **so** nice that you nearly start to blub !!.
the other day angharad had gone out and i was joking with the kids that with mum gone, they could have a pint of beer with me if they wanted (to see what they would say).. liam (7) told me in an earnest voice "dad, i don't think i'm old enough to drink beer yet.
i think i have to be 16" (16 = grown up to him for everything ... he's already sussing out how old he needs to be to drive).. well, i told him how i was proud he was so sensible and wasn't afraid to stand up and say "no" and that i was really looking forward to when he was old enough to take me out and buy me a pint of beer (ok, father-son moment ... i was getting emotional already).
