That is fascinating. In some ways, I relate to all of what you say - the humbling, the realization, because there is a similar type of social support for people who leave Hasidism, but I suppose for us it's on a much smaller scale. I find it sad (if not, if I may say, a little moronic) that people should try to push their beliefs on others, but I guess I try to respect that everyone sees things differently...

I actually also found some other interesting threads about that church. Doesn't look like the visitors had the same impressions we had... We thought the visitors saw us and admired our way of life immensely! Even envied us!

We lived next door and I was really curious. My father said the goyim there were polite and didn't bother us. We all believed that this was a "respectful" group who maybe even admired us. Now I'm thinking we may have been a little delusional :-)

Everyone here is so nice. Does anyone know if there is an archive maybe where historical documents of the JH are kept?
a while back, i told of my wife going by our old kingdom hall and surprised to see an american flag hanging by the window.
i thought this was picture worthy news, and some of you agreed.. well it turns out the congregation sold the hall to a phillipino church.
