may i ask a few questions?

i'm sure some have already been asked, and some are not meant to be hurtful, i just don't understand.

backround- i am not jw, in fact quite anti jw, husband has been studying for about two years, not baptized, not field service, i know doctine quite well, flipflops, un, new 1914, etc......... do any of you feel 'guilty' for getting someone 'in'?

I realize that you are looking for answers from people that are still in or freshly out, but I didn't want to high-jack your thread with my, "I KNOW YOU!" excitement, so I'll do my best at answering your questions...

Do any of you feel 'guilty' for getting someone 'in'? (in my case, when they came, they asked if husband "couldn't get out of the house without the wife knowing". Now if that is not a red flag what is ?

I never brought anyone "in". Most people haven't. Yes, I would feel guilty now if I had. Then... no.

If you didn't have any friends or family 'in', what would keep you? fear of the big A?

Nothing. I would have left. I did leave, but it was very painful. My mother is the only on in (thank goodness).

He claims jw's do not think of the rest of us a 'birdseed' ( I realize that is an old term) or that the rest of us are not 'worthy' of death, but literature says otherwise, what is current thought on us 'worldly' people? Even your own children?

I don't know what is current, but knowing them, we are still birdseed.

If it is the truth, why such fear at looking at anything not sactioned by the wt?

first, in the way of history, the wtbts got linked up with the un as an ngo (non-governmental organization).to do so, the watchtower had to conform to the rules.

Secondly, what is the big deal with quoting someone from the UN? None. The Society has quoted catholic priests, atheists, evolutionists, politicians, etc. etc. and there have even been times when the material presented about these "worldlies" was not so bad or even favourable to an extent.

What I find offensive is that they will USE these quotes where it benifits the WTBS. As long as what they say fits in with JW teachings, they quote them. Then... they go back to "these people will have their eyes plucked out by birds at Armageddon". Calling the UN "The Scarlet Colored Wild Beast" and then finding something "favourable" that they can USE is hypocritical, IMHO.

This explains (in better words) what I was thinking. I found an Awake at the laudry mat. I started thumbing thru it and found that they are quoted and pictured Kofi Annan (UN Secretary-General).

i finally figured out why i'm so socially retarded...it just hit me.. here i was sitting and wondering why i have such a hard time meeting new people, making friends, thinking of relevent things to say, and so on.

it really is painful and scary for me.

i was told who i could talk to, who i couldn't talk to, what i could say, what i couldn't say.

Our backgrounds are full of hidden intents, converting ppl ("oh no, our intent is not to convert you, just to provide you with some bible knowledge"), talks addressed to the congregation, ("Some ppl may feel that it is ok to engage in worldly activities such as extreme sports" Was he talking about ME, but not to me?), decline of invites (have I been secretly 'marked'?),

wow... WOW! That's me. Definately me. I'm going to copy that off and put it in my "work on me" file!

I remember when my sister-in-law thought it was so strange that I didn't have hurt feelings when one my friends told me that they would go somewhere with me and then pulled a no-show. I just assumed that they had a good reason. It didn't bother me because I just don't let people get too close in the first place. I've also been the type of person that just "takes what I can get" when it comes to relationships. Yeah, I definately have a problem with relationships and it's because of the borg and all their CONDITIONAL love.

Another JW divorce!

my wife just got word that another couple in the local congregation will be divorcing.this will be the third one within 2 years,all couples in their 20's-30's,just like us here.. anyways,he committed adultery,got a std and she threw him out;the children are devastated.he was known for flirting with any attractive woman,married or not,christian or not.. what upsets me is that these people all went to the hall acting like righteous christians and pre-meditating their family-breaking adultery.meanwhile,i'm treated like shit because i don't attend all meetings here,they must have a wager on my wife and i.like i told the wife before<i'm not going anywhere and i value my family.

I have seen a lot of divorces too, especially when it's teenagers getting married.

I remember when I was a child, hearing my mother say over and over again that most JW marriages last tell death. "JW don't get a divorce just because someone squeezed the toothpaste the wrong way!"

Mother... I don't know of ANYONE that takes marriage so lightly that they will get a divorce over toothpaste. And yeah, it's usually over adultry because JW are VERY sexually repressed. Most JW marriages DON'T last. I think the 75% estimate was very accurate.

Oh, I know you were just kidding, but REALLY I'm clueless about this stuff. It was something that I was NOT interested in learning, so I didn't.

All I've figured out is when you scream "Armageddon's coming SOON" for the last 120 years people are going to stop believing you (well, most people anyway... when they actually THINK about it). How can my mother be so dumb???

If moving the end of the gentile times back to 1824 would buy them time, then yes :P

Ummm... I think I'm showing my IQ.... (duh) I'm guessing the numbers go backward? Oh!... is this BC? Before Christ? Oh, dear... I swear I'm not really this stupid... It's just these dates that I always tryed to daydream thru at the KH.
