"Besides, We Give Gifts Throughout the Year!"
by Swan inthe jws always give a lengthly explanation as to why they don't celebrate christmas or birthdays, and then always add the final statement "besides, we give gifts throughout the year!".
yeah, right!
okay, lets get an unofficial count of all the people who actually did get gifts on other days of the year.

We'd occasionally get some new toys, when my parents could afford it, but it wasn't very often. So, my sister R~, my bestfriend, and I started what we called "friend day". The third Friday of every month was "friend day", and we would make (or, rarely, buy) presents for each other, usually depending on what we needed or what had happened that month. For example, I had an old disgusting pillow that I slept on, so my best friend sewed me a beautiful big blue fluffy pillow with my name on it!!! It was awesome. We would go to a thriftstore in our neighborhood that had this "dollar a bag" sale, and whatever you could stuff into a brown paper bag, you got for a dollar. So we used that to make clothes and such for each other.

I never thought about that, Nosferatu, thanks! I guess it's that feeling that it wasn't always like this, and it makes me think that maybe what we had can be regained. Maybe when I find a job here I'll just go be single for a while, some of the posts here have made a pretty good argument for it!!!!!

by justhuman inin memory of my uncle john who died last sunday
when i had a phone call that my uncle died just before i got on stage, i sat for a moment and i was looking my guitar.

I've had one loveless marriage, got married waaaaaaay too young, but my dad had abandoned me in CA at fifteen, and this guy was all I had. It started out as what I thought was love, but ended up with me being totally dominated. He chose what I wore, what I ate, where I went, what friends I could visit, etc. Right now I've been in a relationship for three years, and we've had our ups and downs. The thing is, it's changed so much since when we first met, and since we moved to Ohio 3 months ago. When we first met, we'd go backpacking by the ocean, tell each other intimate secrets, we shared everything, and always encouraged each to reach our goals. Now, I hardly see him, he's always at his brothers house, doesn't want to go out and do anything (I literally know only 3 blocks of this town, becuase he won't show me the area), just sits around and plays video games, won't talk to me (he says he "doesn't want to hear it", or it just doesn't interest him). We only have one car now, his, which is a stick shift, and he refuses to teach me how to drive it. One of the worst parts is along with the emotional intimacy being gone, the physical has gone as well. I feel like I'm in a kind of limbo! I don't know, maybe I'm just not good at relationships, or maybe this is just a rough spot. The things that I do like about being in a relationship are: the intimacy (physical and emotional), sharing goals, encouraging each other to go after our hearts desires, having someone there to laugh and to cry with, and the support you get from your partner.

Yes, Xan, I remember the feeling that we were somehow "less than" everyone else, because our mother was df'd. the congregation felt that we were somehow "tainted" because our mother had been df'd. To be honest, I didn't give a sh*t what the congregation thought, it just irked me that my mother had been df'd without anyone even trying to help her. She died thinking that Jehovah didn't love her because of this stupid organization!!!! Yes, I was shocked and stunned, because I thought that the organization had more Christian love than that, and at that time truly thought that they would be forgiving and kind. Little did I know!!!!!

Are You Afraid To Express Your Opinion???
by minimus indo you feel intimidated or uncomfortable when giving your opinion?

Sometimes. Example: Tonight one of our new neighbors came over, and we were trying to make him feel welcome to our neighborhood. In response, he started talking about how he was a republican, and how all democrats are nit-wits, pussies, traitors, etc. I happen to be a democrat. I was about to say something, but got "the look" from my boyfriend, and held my tounge. Normally, I would have called him on it, and asked him to be more civil, but because my boyfriend gave me "the look", I kept my mouth shut. So, I guess, I am afraid to express my opinions sometimes, because I'm worried about offending someone close to me. (BTW, my boyfriend is also a democrat, but always wants to keep the peace with everyone.)
