OK ThiChi, obviously you and I are not going to see eye-to-eye, so rather than go rounds on this subject, lets just drop it. I don't know you as a person, so I could care less.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, please
by asleif_dufansdottir ini'm so nervous!.
i just started grad school this year, and had a teaching assistantship this last fall.
it paid a few thousand dollars for 20 hours work per week, but the important thing was that it came with a waiver of out-of-state tuition and part of in-state tuition.

Another newbie...
by Rabbit ini'm new too, i guess the saying, "misery loves company," is true in some ways.
in reading some
of the posts...i see a very sad and common theme of extreme depression and loneliness.

Considering his other posts, he has a "God" problem.
Don?t get me wrong, I am all for free speech....which includes hearing all viewpoints, not just yours...The post IMHO, was pure rubbish!
You are totally free to feel how you want, but when you start bashing on others, I'm gonna call you on it. You can disagree with the story all you want, but the personal attacks are not part of "hearing all viewpoints", IMHO. If dhamah has a "God problem", then you obviously have a "non-christian unbeliever" problem. Such is life, deal with it.

Anyone here ever been homeless?
by maybesbabies ini am curious, our family was homeless on and off for several years.
i am trying to communicate to my little brother that growing up this way does not preclude one from a normal life.
is anyone willing to share a story that i can pass on to him??

Oy vay!! Come off it!!! It's humor, that's all!!! Sorry you were offended by the obscenities and such, but I think it was terribly funny!!!
In my former days and ignorance I would have found it quite amusing, but now, it seems very unkind to paint the creator of everything we hold dear in this way.
In my former days of ignorance, I followed a religion who believed in controlling people through fear and isolation. Now, I am free, and don't believe in a talking snake baiting a naked woman into eating a forbidden fruit, and therefore am able to find some humor in pointing out the foibles of a book riddled with atrocities and debauchery. Lighten up all, I am offended by others preaching about god, but I don't harp at them because they don't follow my thinking. Live and let live.

I Like Beef, But This Made Me ILL !
by xjw_b12 inwith the mad cow controversy that has been raging on now, a lot of consumers, including myself, are a lot more informed about what what contitutes "animal feed"
britain and europe have banned slaughterhouse waste being used as feed, but canada has not yet done so.
what shocked me in the following article was the extent of all slaughterhouse remains that are used, even to the point of weening calves on cattle blood !

Unsolicited Advice
by pettygrudger indo you feel compelled to give advice to your friends if you think they are making bad choices?
if it's not threatening to your friend in a physical way - do you live & let live - even if their choices have the potential to hurt them emotionally at a future time?
what is the "right thing to do in these situations"?

I have many friends who do this, and I think it all depends on the way it's presented. If someone says "you must do this", then I say F^&% you, but if someone says "consider the options you have, a, b, or c", then it shows me that they really care about what's going on, and are just trying to help. No one can really tell what's best for another person, which I constantly have to remind some of my friends. I try to stay away from giving advice, as I don't really know what's best for any one else. Basically, advice is free, and usually not worth the price.

Why do most dubyas feel it is necessary to get a new dress...
by Agent Smith inor suit for the conventions and memorial?.
i have never understood this.
are they gonna hold a beauty pageant at the convention?

I second that!!! I had a sister scream at me for an hour at a convention once because I had "embarrassed" her with my shoddy clothing. Didn't matter to her that we had just been homeless for almost six years and were now living in a motel, what on earth was I thinking not buying a new dress for the convention????? Not like our family needed to eat or anything
