i hope everyone is having a good saturday.

i've visited this many times in the past month or so, joined yesterday and finally got the nerve to post!

needless to say, i'm super nervous, being new to this whole experience.

I find it hard to believe that Terrence Howard isn't awake.

for those who don't know, terrence howard is an actor who has had some exposure to "the truth" and has spoken positively about the jw religion in a past interview saying he would become a jw if he could.. i've started watching wayward pines where terrence howard stars as the town sheriff.

there are some striking cult parallels between the show and some facets of jw cult culture.

~ people who try to leave wayward pines are subject to punishment.

from what i understand is this.. one of his wifes was a jw. he studied a little bit, but has a serious smoking habit. he said in an interview that he believes the basic doctrine of the dubs. but, can't give up smoking to commit. subsequently his marriage ended. i thinks he was abusive, not sure.

but, remember...that doctrine has changed quit a bit. so he may not believe anymore. just like all of us saw through the scam of the WTBT$.

i commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.

at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.

they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !

cartoon teachings for a cartoon cult religion......i straight up tell my kids what kind of people to look out for. i show them the people on the sex offender list and show them they look like normal people.

i tell them not to trust anyone, especially witnesses.....my wife says the same as me.

if they do get approached or touched to come to us....i will let the local police know....i will persecute and if it is happening and i catch it....I WILL TERMINATE THE SORRY EXCUSE OF A PERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just found out my older brother has passed away

i have just found out that my brother (who was one of a bunch that shared this login) has died.. he and his wife were living in another country where they once pioneered.

i didn't see him that often.. such an empty feeling.....

Why using Jehovah for God's name is as good as using Yahweh

in another thread i wrote some notes about why using jehovah in english is as good as using yahweh.

i'm starting a discussion on this topic because it sounds quite ignorant to hear people talk of the monk who started using it in latin without really understanding why the monk did so.. the spanish dominican monk, raymundus martini, in 1270, didn't get hoodwinked by an old jewish superstition about pronouncing the divine name with the vowel points of another word.. 1. first the vowel points of adonay and jehovah cannot be the same for grammatical reasons.

you just can't use the same vowel points because some vowels aren't paired with some consonants in pronouncing hebrew words.

Thought only JWs were doing the preaching work world wide?

as one of jehovah's witnesses for over 40 years, i was always taught that we were the only ones who went door to door, preached world wide, built our own buildings and so on.. however in the past year living in the south, not 1 jw has knocked on my door.

yet 4 various people from local churches have.. tonight i meet a young man who is preaching with a group in china (baptist) a block away i watched a congregation build their own church.. i could go on all night with the thing i have found to be un true with the org.. glad i'm out.

So i told her, when you preach door to door, you should be preaching about christ. not handing out magazines, would jesus hand out magazines?

So we went to the Assembly without badges....my wife asked me. where are our badges? didn't you get some? i said no! didn't you? so i asked, when did this become my responsibility?

end of conversation and we didn't end up having any badges, which was great.

Getting it out of my system, a VERY long introduction/outpouring..

after a few months of lurking on this site, i've decided to take the plunge...i don't really care so much about introducing myself, but somehow there is some relief in the thought of getting my little story out there, just getting it out of my system.
